Looks like this is technically a redesign, but I'm sure it's functionally indistinct from the ones used in the early 2000s on the Bohrok--the first and still main use I think of for this part, which is perhaps the least Mixel of all the Mixel-jointed ball family in my mind.
Oh, snap!
So please, stay off my back
Or I will attack and you don't want that!
Oh dear... a Lego part that makes my joints start feeling creaky!
@Formendacil:
I see a notch in the flange near the ball, but that's it. This was actually designed for the flex cable system, which was only used as it was designed in a handful of sets. A few others, like 8008, use an incomplete version (it's only missing the flex tube sheath for the cable that triggers the Stormtrooper's gun), or use it aesthetically. These days it's mostly just the flex tube by itself, or the pin and axle ball joints as anchors for rubber bands or smooth tips for finger-actuated play features. I don't think I've ever seen any instance where these (or the axle version) were used with Mixel sockets, though they should certainly be compatible like any other towball element.
@Formendacil :
The Bricklink page lists two functionally different versions of this part - the one in this post, and one they call "6628b," which has a square shape inside the pin hole preventing a bar from connecting into it.
In the words of Adam Savage: "So. Many. Jokes...":D
More colours(hues) for this part please (more specifically, light and dark blueish grey).
I had that once. Got some cream from the pharmacy, sorted it right out.
Trying to decide if a friction snap sounds more like a skateboard move or a biscuit
@HOBBES:
It's probably color-locked. This did appear once in light-bley (even Used starts at over $3), and quite a few times in red, but mostly it's just black. The axle version is currently available in dark-tan, was once available in black (prices seem very low, considering the rarity), and the rest are split between light-grey and light-bley. Dark-bley might be possible, given the right situation, but I think they're going to want to keep black for the pin version, and light-bley for the axle style.
