Football scarf VIP reward revealed

Posted by ,

LEGO has unveiled another unusual VIP reward, that will be available from the 1st of November.

This minifigure-emblazoned football scarf will cost 3120 VIP points to redeem, which is nearly equivalent to a £20, $20 or €20 discount voucher.

Is this something that interests you? Let us know in the comments.

By in United States,

It's a great looking scarf. As an adult with no children, I'd rather put my points elsewhere. On the other hand, there are children on my gift list...

By in Netherlands,

Lego should remain far away from anything related to football the next month or 2 if you ask me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Will look good in the background of a display case for added decoration more than being used to keep warm.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

No. I thus answered the question.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The fact that the name of the article doesn't have an exclamation mark says it all ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have an extensive collection of soccer scarves and a crazy big Lego collection. Yet, this does not interest me at all. I don't see the point.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not interested in the slightest.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I find it quite obnoxious when a company wants my money for a thing that is basically a promotion for this company. That's why i don't like big branding on my clothes etc.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This just looks kind of lazy to me...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yes, this is something that interests me.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Yellow minifigs? Bold move Lego.

At over $30CAD in points it is an easy pass.

Gravatar
By in United States,

$24 worth of points!

It doesn't match the table football teams -- it's minifigure yellow!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

These will probably be worth quite a lot in 10 years or so. But I'll pass. ;-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Its terrible. As a football scarf its got no teams I can think of colours, and as a lego item it looks very poorly done.

So yeah, zero interest.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Go soccerball team!

A ‘generic’ yellow and white football scarf seems a strange choice.

People don’t support football, they support a specific football team and wear that teams colours.

Colombia
...who are not in the 2022 world cup
Possibly a deliberate move to avoid accusations of bias?

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Firstly, when I saw it, I thought that it was fine and it was not expensive. However, after reading the comments, people is right. A football World Cup in Qatar in November/December seems a bit strange...but if you have enough money to buy everyhing...

Gravatar
By in United States,

No thanks. It’s unique, but I prefer to use my LEGO VIP points for, well…, LEGO…!

90% with you there - trainers gotta have that branding

Columbias Colours are Yellow, Red and Blue. Not yellow and white.

By in Netherlands,

The Vatican plays in yellow and white.....though they didn't make it to the world cup either...
(they're not even a FIFA member)

Go sportsball team!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like football.
I like Lego.
I don't like scarves.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Maybe Lego should consider giving us some decent VIP points rewards that are actually made out of something we all collect containing something like real Lego bricks.
I have zero interest in spending my hard earned points on items like this or stickers or coloring pages or a piece of printed cardstock.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nope, but I expect the US was not the intended market.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My ancestors didn't sail to the new world for me to spend my VIP points on soccer paraphernalia.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Finally, an easily obtainable Vatican City international football team scarf.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like football.
I like Lego.
I collect football scarves.

Wow!
Looks like I am their solitary market!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Doesn’t go with the recent Keyring or lunchbox. No good for school…

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I don't care about football. I also find this particular scarf ugly as hell.
Hence no, it doesn't interest me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Something tells me cranky adult fans aren't the best market for this.... but then why make it a VIP point purchase?

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Seems you can’t comment on something now without being called “cranky”.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

No, thank you.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Very meh imo. I’d put my VIP points to better use by putting towards a discount.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’d be more interested if the design didn’t include a football and if the scarf didn’t cost so many VIP points.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like this for my husband. He has recently taken to supporting Dulwich Hamlet (South London team). Their colours are pink and blue. He looks a bit of a wally in the Dulwich hat.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Now if they made an Ice Planet 2022 themed, regular-keep-your-neck-warm scarf.... That would be so cool!!!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Doesn't interest me that much, even while I'd be interested in a warm scarf. Look pretty okay though.
By the way, I wonder why the VIP rewards illustrations on the LEGO website are always so small that it's hard to get a good impression of the product.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I stopped using points for rebates and dove headfirst into all the weird physical rewards. This will not be one of them.

@GrizBe:
That may be intentional. If you want to make something that appeals to all fans, making it match a specific team’s colors is a sure way to get nearly everyone else to pass on it.

@besch64:
I’ll one-up you with “didn’t fight for independence.” Although one of them was in a unit that managed to miss every bit of action until they showed up to watch the surrender at Yorktown.

@LegoMike:
Well, you could probably thread this through the key ring and then shove it in the lunchbox. Or, you know, not.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It looks nice enough, and perfect for a kid that likes football and Lego.

Why all the negativity 24/7 here lately?

I was reading an article on here about an older set, Building My SG, and was taken aback how almost every comment was painted in a positive light for such a relatively simple set. It was, honestly, wholesome.

Side note, thanks for the article alerting us to this VIP reward, CapnRex.

By in United States,

Very funny comments section today.

Gravatar
By in United States,

To each their own... but I don't think I've ever been less interested in anything. Ever.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Excellent... And now you can have a blanket GWP too. Save on your heating bills!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Nope, not interested. My VIP points are used for one and only one thing: more LEGO!

Well, there's supposed to be a very cold winter coming up with a possible energy crisis, so LEGO is just helping people survive.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Does not interest me at all! Would not waste points on it.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Where’s it made? What’s it made from? Will it come in a box?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@namekuji said:

I'm sure it will be hand-woven by the most skilled child labourers they can find, out of the most exquisite of cheapest materials available, lovingly packaged with utmost care in a box that is worth at least five times as much as its contents.

After all, only the best is good enough, no?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

With winter coming I'd like a LEGO scarf, but with soccer playing minifigs? Nah..

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Why does this exist?

Gravatar

@Knightmares said:
"Why does this exist?"

It's for all the raging AFOLs to hang themselves with.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It came in a soft black plastic package/envelope. It's a nice full-length scarf. It's very comfortable. As I live in Minnesota, a land that exists for scarf use, this scarf will go great with the Lego stocking cap I bought at Target last year. Well worth using VIP points on.

@krklint:
In Michigan, we prefer to limit it to mittens, when possible.
