Friends Advent Calendar - Day 13

Posted by ,

We finished the first half of the calendar on a very strong note with the gift kiosk. We've had some great little builds in the calendar so far, what with Olivia, Ava, the Pride Pony, and who can forget the legendary wurst? Let's see what we'll have to start off the second half of advent.

Well, my first thought is, where's Andrea? Seeing a microphone and speakers usually means she is nearby. I'm also reminded of the advent calendar some years ago when one of the days was just a microphone and a turntable. It seems the advent calendar designers have given us more than that, with a microphone, stand, and some speakers.

While it's clear that karaoke is one of the outdoor activities at the fair, this still seems a bit underwhelming.

Accessories without a discernable purpose. Not a good look. Reminds me of the infamous Rocket tool rack from GG.

Does Lego™ think we'll all put up with this- that we're all tools? Not a bad little (emphasis on 'little') accessory design. But, give us the subject first. Why bury the lead?

I had something completely different in day 13 of Friends, a little girl minifigure?

Reminder: up to this point we've had 1 1/2 minidolls. The sole full-sized one is Olivia, known for her interest in STEM.

This feels like it's missing the other friends dearly.

The colors are a bit sterile, but the aqua and gold are at least a bit festive.

@Binnekamp:
In years past, Friends calendars have focused on one of the girls to the exclusion of the others, haven’t they?

My first thought: these are exact replicas of the microphone stand and speaker in a Loz set I own. Well, except for the grille piece instead of a regular tile.

That said, I can't rule out that Lego has done something like it before. And to be fair, that entire Loz set seems very much "inspired" by an Ideas submission. So no blaming and shaming here. I just couldn't help but notice.
