Friends Advent Calendar - Day 16

The Christmas market is taking shape, with plenty to see and do (and eat). However, I could stand some more festive builds; there's been a lack of a lot of red and green in the builds so far.
Well, there's certainly red and green in this build! It seems that there's a couple of gifts from the kiosk on day 12 as well. However, the star of the build is the penguin featured prominently on the table. Penguins have been featured in Friends advent calendars in the past, and I think this is a welcome addition here.
I'm not quite sure why the penguin is there, but does it matter? It's very cute.

Maybe the market is secretly a front for some kind of weird Antarctic wildlife smuggling operation. An this poor penguin was just trying to find the shrine of the holy hotdog to escape?

It's hard for me to see a penguin from this angle. Looks more like a black and yellow mailbox.
I have bought the Friends AC in the past because the builds and parts were better and more interesting than City. This year's a definite pass.

I thought my comment about the wildlife smuggling operation was the funniest way to respond to today's build.

I gave the Friends AC a miss this year. Maybe I'll see if any stores have it on clearance after Christmas and grab it for the parts.

Is that Mormon SciFi? I guess given the golden tablets and whatnot, perhaps it's appropriate. Then again, I suppose all religious teachings are SciFi to one degree or another. Hail FESTIVUS!

Ya know, I have a really nice Emperor Penguin designed. If I can come up with something better than a red cheese wedge, I might be able to brick-build one. I already have Wallace and Gromit riding in my 8-wide Routemaster MOC.
This might be in reference to this year's winter holiday set 40498 Christmas Penguin.
