City Advent Calendar - Day 12
Posted by MeganL,Over the last several days we've met some new characters, had some sweets provided and had a lovely little birdhouse. As we reach the halfway point of the calendar, let's see what door number 12
We're turning to outdoor activities with this build! Looks like Tippy, Billy, or Raze is planning on doing some ice skating - that is, after they finish their snowman. Unlike the snowman we saw in Day 10 of the Friends calendar, this one still looks to be in process, and I rather like parts usage here. It would be difficult to place a hat on top, though!

Well, a top hat could be fairly easily balanced, but it couldn't be attach unless you wanted to break out the Kragle.
That is the laziest Lego-snowperson I've ever seen, and yet I like it.
Budget ice rink this year. I swear they just get smaller and smaller...
It's an even lousier snowman when it's missing its head!! :-(
Speaking of lousy, off-topic, what's up with the new Modular?
I've just seen the first official image over at Promobricks and my word, what a let-down.
No wonder we haven't seen an official article authorized by LEGO here on Brickset yet. Perhaps TLG themselves are ashamed to show it - and ask 230 Euro for it at the same time.
...
I was not joking when I said yesterday that I hoped that they wouldn't make ice rink add-ons for the next few days. Boo!
The snowman is maybe the most realistic... but was it worth sacrificing building details?
I like the parts and the idea. It seems like we've had a snowman like this in another set. Can't remember which one or if it was just something I MOCed in order to have an action scene in our Winter Village of kids rolling snow to put him together.

Can't get much smaller than this one. Next year 1x1 tile?
Clearly, all five Advent Calendars are going to come with a tiny section of ice rink that you have to combine together into one mega-ice rink that’s just barely big enough for one character to skate on it at a time.
I like this snowman - it looks like the kinds of snowman I usually make as it's small and doesn't have any sticks, coal, carrots or clothing on it. It's also nice and round

If I recall correctly, you said this about the Friends AC, not the City one!
That snowman looks just like the one I saw on my travels today. To top it off, it was next to frozen pond, although probably not safe for skating.
Looks more like a Japanese snowman, since they only have 2 parts instead of 3.

? Looks good to me"
Seriously? A ghastly colour combination, extremely small for the price, stickers.
The annual Modular used to be the highlight of the year. This one looks like a third-rate MOC. No interesting details or apparent building technique highlights. Most of the MOC Modulars that reached 10,000 votes on Ideas look more interesting and coherent.
To me this is the ugliest Modular since Market Street, and an easy pass. I'm not going to pick that one up even at a substantial discount.
Jamie really should return to design the Modular line.
Hate the movies...but I dub thy "BB-Skate"...:)
