City Advent Calendar - Day 17
Posted by MeganL,I continually learn things through the advent calendar every year. How else would I find out that Tic Tac Toe is also known as Butter, Cheese, and Eggs? Exactly how does that work on the farm? Perhaps the minifigs will play while the scarecrow and the chicken watch? Enough questions: I think it's about time for us to get truly into the season, so hopefully the build today will reflect that.
You can't get much more festive than a Christmas tree! I have a great amount of admiration for advent calendar designers. It's a given that a Christmas tree is included in every calendar, and they have to find a way to make that build interesting.
This one succeeds; I particularly like the use of the wedge plates to show snow and that there are lights included. The tree is topped with a golden nanofig.
A very lovely Christmas tree indeed!

That's a very nice tree. Might have to copy it from my own parts.
Nice tree. Would the nanofig represent an angel?
I had to read back on the previous comment section because of the mention of butter cheese and eggs (Boter Kaas en Eieren). Fun!
Also apparently I spelled 'Noughties' as 'Naughties.' Oops! XD
I know we are looking at its backside, but that mould mark on the nanofig is in an unfortunate place...

And Raze will clear the board with her mighty Zamboni if/when she loses.
This is a lovely little tree. We've seen its kind before, but it's a proper build, it's got lovely parts, and it's minifig-scaled. What more could I ask for?
Is it just me, or is that nanofig turtle-heading?
Stuck a few spare 1x1 round bits to the upper parts of the tree so it looks more like there are lights there as well. Took me a minute or two to realize I needed to put some more space between the square pieces to let the branches attach properly, since I generally look at the build here to assemble, rather than try to read the doors.

Yup. Can’t unsee it.
So it turns out 31129 was the start of a slippery slope!
Nice tree, pity about the photography angle, heh.
@Paperdaisy:
Have we forgotten about 31031 already?
