City Advent Calendar - Day 21

Posted by ,

We're down to the last four builds in the calendar, so we should get some really good builds to take us through the last four days. Here's hoping the campfire yesterday didn't burn the barn down, and let's open door number 21.

Well, my plea for more festive builds has been answered, we have some nice holiday greenery on the lamp post. And it's true that a lamp post has been a build regularly featured in an advent build. However.....it's usually a build you see at the beginning of the calendar. I'm also not sure what it adds to the scene.

It's a fine build, but this feels to me like it should be a build earlier in the calendar. I tend to hope for nicer builds as we get closer to the end, and this doesn't meet that expectation.

I actually really like it. It's a bit boring, but it's functional, and adds some nice scenery to any Lego city scene.

Why not put all these advent calendar builds in one post per day?!

I really like that! Really nice design for a lamp post. Looks as good as the specialised piece, AND Gene Kelly can swing from it!

So you have something to look forward to every two hours =)

Anyways, why do I like lamp posts so much? Is it because they appered so rarely in town and City sets?

I'm a little surprised they didn't make the base sturdier, maybe with a 1x1 cone or hollow 1x1 round plate.

Because some calendars light a tiny spark of joy in my withered heart, while other calendars trigger a rage that bring me one step closer to an early grave. I like to, and need to compartimentalise these emotions.

Mr. Tumnus should be by any moment now.

Not everyone is interested in all the calendars. Also, if you look you see that different people are doing different calendars. It'd be a bit hard to ensure everyone got all their stuff in in time for a single post, particularly if they are in different parts of the world.

A single post, with each contributor typing up their particular build and review of it would be incredibly long.

I understand that you can actually block out seeing the advent calendars if they bother you.

And I bet you open all your presents at the same time too!

@StyleCounselor:
It does have a leaf growing out of it, so it’s probably the right one.

@Ridgeheart:
Technically, Jadis planted it hundreds of years before there ever was a Mr. Tumnus.

It's so grey. Like it's an industrial one instead of a nice wrought iron one or something. It's also only slightly taller than a minifig. And as @TheOtherMike said, it doesn't look too sturdy.
Sorry to be a Grinch today, but I don't like it too much. The holly saves it a little bit though

@Binnekamp:
Once planted, it can take thousands of years for a late 19th century lamppost to reach full maturity.
