City Advent Calendar - Day 22
Posted by MeganL,After yesterday's somewhat disappointing lamppost, my expectations are much higher for today's build. There's only three builds left, so there surely must be something impressive behind today's door?
A pony! What a cute little pony! It's white (one could argue winter-themed from the colour) with a cool yellow mane and tail. It also comes with a supply of hay, though I'm not sure why there's a star on top. I'm not sure that I would consider basic sustenance to be a gift.
Best of all, this pony is new to this set! And it's so cute! This does make up a bit from the lamp post from yesterday.

It's only a few pieces, but it's much better than the Friends offering today.
This is quite a surprise. But not an unwelcome one.
Weird placement in the calender, but still nice. I didn't even know City did ponies before. I thought the last non-Belville and non-friends one was from Paradisa. They probably had one in the new horse trailer?
EDIT: no ponies in 60327. Is this a mold debut with this calender?
I think that this year's calendar has been actually pretty good. Sure, idk about the scarecrow or the greengrocer but there's been some real bangers like the piano and the birdhouse and the worst you can say about the cake table or the lamp post is that they're workhorses. Not exciting by themselves but they work well enough together with everything else.
This little pony is really very nice. Not too seasonal but it's a great little animal to populate the barn with.
Bit of a puny build expected something better for the date but the horse is nice

Not a new mould - one in a different colour came with the series 22 minifigures:

honse!
He's cute.
Pony! But, why do we have to react like this? Why does Lego™? keep the prices of animals so artificially high? It's just a simple non-moving part with likely less plastic that a 2x4.
That said, dems the breaks, and this is nice to get.
@tonyjackson71 I completely forgot about that one! You're right! Thanks!
I was interpreting it more as a foal than a pony, but it is very cute. Not sure why it's getting hay or straw as a present, perhaps Mr Produce's apple would be more of a Christmas treat.
Baby's first Christmas, of course he gets a present.
Wait...that's not the horse from 71034-11, is it? Nooooooo!
@tonyjackson71:
71032-5. Advent Calendar daily builds don't work as individual sets on Brickset, though they are cataloged that way on Bricklink. CMFs, on the other hand, do work like individual sets, as long as you get the right number after the dash.
@StyleCounselor:
Pony - 3.31g
2x4 brick -2.32 g
Plus, the pony looks dual-molded, a lot more complicated than a 2-part 2x4 brick mold, and has two layers of print for the eyes if it uses the same pads as the brown version.
@PurpleDave: But...that'd be "The Godfather" in reverse wouldn't it (as in: the horse gets 'better':))
