City Advent Calendar - Day 24

Posted by ,

Merry Christmas Eve! We've opened all the doors in the calendar but one and as a result have a good festive scene with activities indoors and out. There's little mystery about what's behind the last door of the calendar.

As expected, we have the jolly old elf behind door 24. I like this printed torso with the printed fur trim. This is the first time I remember seeing Mr. Kringle with wrinkles around his eyes.

Typically, Santa Claus comes with a sack, but this time he has a carrot, presumably for the pony.

All 24 builds come together for a really nice Christmas scene. It got a little crowded in the house!

I think this year's calendar was an improvement over last year. Last year's relied heavily on microbuilds, which, while fun to build, didn't do much to evoke the season. I much prefer the festive builds that we had this year.

My favourite builds this year were the piano with the cat on Day 4, the gingerbread cake on Day 8, and the sugar cookie stand on Day 7!

Thank you for sharing the calendar again with me again this year; and I hope all of you find presents that rattle under the tree.

Merry Christmas!

This has been a really good Advent Calendar: nice builds, great figures and it's all nicely Christmas. Kind of kicking myself for not getting one.

By in France,

Thank you very much for this fabulous calendar @MeganL , I followed each day carefully.
It just seems to me that a wrinkled head has already been seen in the 40499

By in Netherlands,

The calender wasn't knocking it out of the park, but it sure was a return to form! I'm going to miss reading advent articles :)
Thank you for the reviews and happy holidays!

There is a non-zero chance that Starlord stole it for yesterday's GotG-AC, in a feeble attempt to make that build less disappointing. In true Quill-fashion, he instead succeeded in ruining two things at once.

I liked this AC just fine. There were some great minifigs in here, I'm very pleased with Raze and... I forgot Doorman's secret identity, sorry. I also liked most of the builds, particularly the piano. This was a good one. Thank you.

The box diorama makes a nice centerpiece for some of the Lego sets the builder might receive for Christmas.

Why do they always put Santa's hat in a separate bag? This was the case in 10293 too.

Thanks for the reviews and happy holidays! This AC came in third place behind HP and SW. Still haven't decided the better of those two.

I really appreciated the doorman and the foal. My favorite builds were the zamboni and piano.

I loved reading all the reviews. Merry Christmas everyone!

My only complaint is I missed the crossover so many of us I’m sure wanted and were hoping to see some Friends sloths in this advent calendar scene as well!!

I assume it's to avoid damage to the red paint on it, as it's not dual moulded.

By in Italy,

Thank you, Megan for keeping us company. I agree with your choices to which I would add the cute and unexpected pony.

Have a great holiday season, everyone. Og leg godt!

Again, never bought this calendar, so I'm curious how many of these were spoiled on the sealed box, and what the last day was that you could open and find a true surprise.

@Tuzi:
One of those little perforated bags that you can rip open, and which is made of a less crinkly plastic? Typically this indicates the parts are made in China and shipped to Denmark for packing. They bag them in China before shipment, which keeps the parts from rubbing against each other.

Santa forgot his boots! (Where are those wonderful dual molded legs.)

Certainly better than last year's City advent calendar!

No Santa here! We we're surprised by a second scarecrow!

By in Norway,

Probably the best City advent calender of all time!

I have stopped buying City AC and switched to HP instead, but this year I ended up getting both and liked the City one best :D

First of all it has the fantastic new foal in white in addition to 3 other animals, second it has some nice minifigs and thirdly some good builds.

By in United States,

This was the first City Advent Calendar I've purchased in a few years. Happy they went back to the more festive builds instead of the micro builds they were doing the past few years. Had one hiccup when I received a second Piano build instead of the Zamboni on day 11. Phoned Lego & they sent me the parts to build the Zamboni which I receives a few days ago so I was able to complete the whole Advent Calendar before Christmas.

@TrainMan give Lego a call and let them know you are missing the last build. They'll make it right.
