Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 13

Posted by ,

LEGO has released relatively few Order of the Phoenix sets, so I am curious to learn how the 2022 Advent Calendar will approach this film in the coming days.

Find out after the break...

I think recreating the Room of Requirement at this scale is quite difficult, as the room is inherently featureless because it adapts to the wishes of witches or wizards in dire need. Even so, the trans-light blue details correspond with the onscreen location and I like the 1x2 corner wall panel which forms the fireplace.

However, the most identifiable feature is definitely the Death Eater training dummy, which stands on a black roller skate to represent its wheels. The dark bluish grey colour stands out nicely, but this element lacks the Death Eater's hood. The statuette already used for the Dementors would have been suitable, produced in dark bluish grey for the first time.

Overall - I am not convinced the Room of Requirement was a good choice for modelling at this scale, but the chamber is recognisable.

The Harry Potter advent is normally at 2pm. Think a reveal may be coming in an hour.

Interesting how well they managed to capture it, yet how difficult it is to recognize it without context.
I only recognized it because of the 2019 set using the same subject matter.

Very astute of you. Better than a reveal, we have our first review of a 2023 set going live at 2pm, and probably also for the rest of the week.

I haven't seen any of the HP movies past GoF (except for FBaWtFT) so before reading the description, I was rather confused as to why a trophy was on a roller skate.

By in Hungary,

I am a HP fan but when I built it at the morning, I had no idea what it reprsent. I am not a fan of microbuilds this is why I stwiched from SW to HP few years ago. And here we are again. Few random parts and you supposed to see something which is maybe there but what is reason of creating this weird builds... No sense for me.

Ah, that’s what it is. I honestly drew a blank on this one. It doesn’t help that Years 5&6 kinda blend together in my mind.

…is it? I honestly had no idea that’s where this was supposed to be, thought it might be an attempt at being the fountain in the Ministry

@Brickalili:
The only human sculptures I remember were the ones that were holding some large object (Earth?) off the ground.

Although I must admit that the microbuild evokes more the LEGO set (75966) than the actual film location/set of the Room of Requirements; I still found it instantly recognisable, certainly with the symbol on the door indicating the movie in question.

Mind you, having coincidentally watched the movie last weekend probably helps.

Hmm... 'Arry missed a trick today, methinks. Big fan of the books and movies and this one was a true mystery to me.

Perhaps my problem is that I'm not in touch with my needs. I think the Room is trying to tell me that I'm feeling unappreciated, and I need a trophy to feel like I'm valued. More than that, I need a mobile trophy to follow me around to constantly remind me of my worth.

Bleep you ROR, you don't know me! You don't know what I been though! Go to hell! I'm just fine. Great even!

I had literally zero idea what this build was, "the chamber is recognisable" didn't ring true for me. I'm making a YouTube Shorts series of Blender animations involving the builds from this Advent Calendar and I had to count down the days until this review to find out what this even was. Thank you.

Also, the Dementor dummy was brown in the set and film, thus should be brown here.

@Trigger_:
For future reference, Bricklink breaks Advent Calendars down into individual days, and they list the individual days by both the number and a descriptor. I don’t know if they’re guaranteed to be accurate, but they do have this pegged as the RoR.

This HP advent calendar has been a treat! Great minifigs and really ambitious attempts at microbuilds from the books / films. I've got no issue with having to puzzle out what the designer has attempted to recreate at this scale and even revel in the challenge! It even feels like this calendar has been pitched at AFOLs! Well done Lego, please could we have some more?

Think you’re remembering Deathly Hallows, where the fountain is changed to a throne for wizards being held up by a bunch of muggles. In the books before that it’s a wizard, witch, centaur, goblin and house elf all posing together though I think the film version cuts it down to just the wizard
