They're calling anything a circle nowadays.

So far only used in DOTS. I hope it's used in other sets!

Waiter, I will have the circle.
If it comes out a square, I send it back.
If it comes out a square with rounded corners, I send it back.

I find it interesting that the part listed under "Designs with the same name" is an actual circle. Usually, parts under that are more or less identical.

@Modeltrainman: It hasn't been used in DOTS. Most of its uses have been in Vidiyo sets.

Vidiyo, Mario, Disney Princess, City, and Classic. A wide variety.
Surprising that it hasn't been used for dots.

@TheOtherMike:
Most of its uses have been in Beatbox sets. Normally, plates with rounded corners like this have originated in the Mario theme (and are two plates thick on the corners), but this appears to have been designed as part of the Beatbox container.

Hey look, I'm not going to blame LEGO if they don't know what a circle is; they live in a world of rectangles and blocks.

I remember being intrigued about the old wafer round plates of "ancient" LEGO eras long before minifigs.

Then there was the era of Paradisa which certainly had rounded parts in it's arches, windows, and even plates as seen in 6401 : Seaside Cabana

And now LEGO is trending rounded plates and bricks again in various themes.

Rounded plates like this also could still be interesting in combination with

It’s like a sandwich with its crusts cut. There’s a 2x6 plate that’s rounded to fill the edges right?

Was not disappointed by the circle comments!

C’mon, LEGO. This is like shooting fish in a barrel. At best that’s a squircle. You can’t have pi without the effort.

@peterlmorris:
Maybe they can get Tony Hale to voice it for the inevitable movie.

Hmmm...I remember a show called "Circle Square"...and I know 'rastling refers to the "Squared Circle" (meaning: 'The Ring')...but...???:D

That's not how circles work!

@peterlmorris: A squircle. Not to be confused with a Squirtle, because that's Mega Construx.

Circle? At first I thought Huwbot had imbibed too many adult robot beverages.

"We need an 8x8 circle plate."
"Best I can do is a 4x4 circle."
"OK, I have an idea."
