I was hoping to get one of these today. I'd ordered some Collectable Minifigs from Lego, and I would have like for one to be 71034-5. No such luck, but at least I got 71034-11!
Funny, I was literally just looking at the Red Hood figure 71017-11 on Bricklink for my "Axis Chemical" factory MOC. That figure uses this part in red as the hood.
Spooky, huh?
Look Ma, a 'Retro Space Hemet':)
Actually, I like the part; got one sitting on the desk in front of me (the 'snowglobe' w/the CMF Elf Girl)
I was rebuilding some mixels recently and came across 41528 niksput, where I received this part for the first time as a helmet for the eyepiece. It's clever how they used that.
I think you mean "polycarbonate case," right?
@Murdoch17:
And the TLBM Mr. Freeze uses it in clear (with the same armor). Ironically, I did both about a decade earlier, without the armor to attach them to. You can get this to wedge onto a minifig head that's wearing the original male hair (which I used in white for Mr. Freeze), or the original shoulder-length hair (which I used in green with a Joker head for Red Hood).
BTW, this seems fitting as a segue to mention that Kevin Conroy, Batmanest Batman of All Time, just passed away. I actually watched his first few dozen episodes live, as I still remember the crazy mixed up release schedule. B:TAS started out airing six days a week, with a weekday afternoon time slot, and another time slot on Saturdays, and episodes got aired in whatever order they arrived. The first two-parter got split up by about a week as a result. Ironically, the first time his voice aired in that series, it was as one of the GCPD dirigible pilots at the start of the episode titled On Leather Wings.
I take this piece off as I have Red Hood in 5984 Lunar Limo as a personal bodyguard to the Brick Daddy.
Lovely piece, first appeared in the adventure series 5988

More accurately, the first variant. This version first appeared in 2015.
Just the thing in which to keep that skull on the shelf of your airship...!
5956, which was my first encounter with (a version of) this part. I assume it's there because Dr. Kilroy is studying it during the flight or something; but even still, skull-in-a-jar always struck me as a bit of a strange thing to keep in an airship cabin.

It's very Ogel of him.
My own first encounter with this part was 5978 (aka the Best Set Ever), though I definitely remember the 2002 Mission Deep Sea sets in trans-neon green and the yellow ones from Anakin's (original) Podracer.
Actually, speaking of the podracer, I'm reminded of Star Wars, and how this is basically a two-brick version of the R2 astromech head. The fact that it's actually a year older is kind of counter-intuitive to me, since if feels like the sort of shape that should have started with R2 and then proceeded to variations, but I guess it also sort of makes the hollow shape make more sense: that "feels" more 90s, since it has weaker clutch. I wonder if Star Wars was close enough on the horizon that one influenced the other, but I would guess not.

R.I.P.
Maybe Adam West and Kevin Conroy can talked to Bob Kane (creator of Batman) about his comic creation and how beloved Batman is.
Pleased to see this has indeed been used in Beauty and the Beast sets given it looks like it was made to play the jar holding the rose
@Murdoch17: You're forgetting Bill Finger, without whom Batman wouldn't look like "Batman"...no Robin, Joker, Penguin, nor Riddler either...and were not even talking about Green Lantern (Alan Scott was his...)
Oh no I can’t believe Kevin Conroy has died! He’s one of the few people I think who ever really understood the dynamic between Bruce Wayne and Batman.
I’m in a glass case of emotion!
This one does what it says on the tin. Strange, as LEGO tends to come up with the DUMBEST and most nonsensical names for parts.
