How so? About 20 years ago, I had several white copies of the narrow version of this part (with only one pin hole) split open at the axle end, but I don't remember ever having any trouble with this part. Well, except the one time I designed something that needed the split version of this (with two half-width axle holes instead of one full-width version), and I was a few months too early for its debut. I ended up having to climb out of bed as soon as my head hit the pillow and redesign the entire thing so it would work with the parts that were available at the time, which made for a rough day at work the next morning.

I used this part to make my three greatest MOCs ever. Each one took nine months to complete. My wife helped a little bit too.
