So, it's NOT a 3068?

Not quite. This one is Drum Lacquered in silver. Don't know if they just take a 3068 for it, or if there is actually a different mold.

Not just a regular tile. This is a 'Beskar' tile.

@Miyakan:
There’s supposed to be a different mold, because the chrome or ink layer adds enough thickness to screw up the clutch. The old cellulose acetate parts, ABS parts, old clear acrylic, and more recent clear polycarbonate parts probably all needed different molds because the different rates at which newly molded parts shrink as they cool would also affect clutch. The new clear material (whatever it is) sounds like it can use ABS molds, which makes me wonder if it’s clear ABS (I’ve heard such a thing exists, but that it’s prohibitively expensive, and I don’t think it was optically clear). There’s at least one other specialty plastic they use for parts that are prone to breaking, which is how they solved the splitting cheese wedge problem, and the issue with lightsaber blades molecularly bonding with any cone they were inserted into.

Well, at least it's properly named a tile, even though it's in the Plates category...

Originally, tiles were considered by LEGO as modified plates. The taxonomy hasn't changed much since then, so now you have a 'plates' category and within it 'plates' and 'tiles'. Having 'plates' in the 'plates' category makes sense but is confusing as both have the same name, and having 'tiles' in the 'plates' category doesn't make sense (except in its historic context) and is also confusing (albeit for a different reason). So confusing and confusing :~S
