This brick makes building a SNAP!
When this is in black, all I think about is Blacktron.
When it's not in black or white, I find it useful.
Oh snap.
Apparently this mould variant goes back to 2010--that's not a bad run given LEGO's propensity for tweaking things. And it's definitely not one of the changes where I noticed anything new when they did it.

The new version has notches instead of a tube like the newer jumpers, so you can now offset it even on a solid stud!
Hey baby, wanna do the horizontal snap?

Just when you thought you had heard every Lego euphemism, people keep inventing more...
@Murdoch17:
Wasn’t Snap a character from the LEGO Island theme? I mean…they wouldn’t…right? Right?
Elephant face.
If we get a matching one tomorrow then it’ll be horizontal snap Snap!
So peace, stay off my back
Or this brick will attack and you don't want that!

Curiously enough, the previous mould variant from 1995 https://brickset.com/parts/design-2458 claims to have still been in use up until last year, despite this new variant having existed for over ten years. I'm sure there's some reason behind that, but it's certainly puzzling to me.
@ThatBionicleGuy:
I once got a copy of 40076 that came with one of the 1x1 plate w/ vertical clip in Type II (4085b) and Type IV (4085d), even though the Type II variant should have ceased production when Type III was introduced in the mid-80’s. The kicker? They were dark-bley, a color that didn’t exist until 2004. So, there’s apparently an ancient Type II mold that has been kicking around for around three decades, and accidentally got put back into production in 2012.
