Drum number one! Drum number one! Very fun! 2x2x2x2, very fun!

"Come, they told me, pa-rum-pa-pum-pum..."

Seasonally appropriate, if you squint a bit.

Oh, this does appear to be a new version of the drum part that doesn't require tying a knot, or threading things carefully. Very nice. I see it has already been used to good effect in some juniors sets where the old version would have been deemed too fiddly for young builders. Also nice that it can be used for chains too.

I have to say I am dismayed by this part which is new to me as of today. I understand the utility as a 4+part for those with limited dexterity, but I also see no problem in learning to tie strings.

I hated tying the strings as a kid, and hate it as an adult!

Try saying there should be no printed bricks because there’s nothing wrong with learning how to apply stickers.

Do we like this part or find it hum-drum?

@Kynareth:
When I made Mater, I used the old version. I had to be able to thread the string through at least one other part, and the parts that would come with this version would make that impossible.

What an amazing part! I wish this had been around when I was a kid. I hated tying string; it was difficult because of the tiny hole and permanent, which goes against the ethos of LEGO.

Alright, no need to fiddle with the small hole but: (1) clearly the rope tied in the fiddly hole is significantly stronger than this where the stud can be ripped apart quite easily and (2) the ropes with studs at the end are notoriously short. While this system has its use in some places, I'll take the fiddly hole and long rope any day.

This is a great piece, tying the lego strings have always been a nightmare for me

Prefer the Bobbin part 32012 as that had an axle hole so could turn using gearing etc, whereas this always needs to be turned by hand.

If this comes in Red, it would be a RED-DRUM!

Looking at the sets this has come in, I can see one longer studded string. Not sure if it is new though, I'm not familiar with any other than the really short one.

@Miyakan:
The Fender Strat comes with a pack of 41L strings, which are available in over 50 sets. That’s probably good enough for most applications. The unfortunate thing is that anchor stud is going to make winding the string up tricky, since it doesn’t sit flush.
