By in United Kingdom,

Welp. Site says 'waiting room' and looks like it hasn't loaded properly. Bugger this, I'm going to bed.

UPDATE: Yay managed to get in in the end.

IF you get thru the queue :) Happy new year!

By in United Kingdom,

As soon as Midnight Struck the "waiting room" disappeared and I was in. Just sad to see the Fleece Blanket that had been free in my bag minutes earlier, disappear. No problems in the UK. Just need to justify the spending to myself in this New Year. Happy building everyone!

Have the new Harry Potter sets been pushed back, as saying 1st March release on Lego site?

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Yeah, for the first time in years I'm skipping any purchases on the 1st of January.
And I'm definitely not wasting 190€ on a superfluos purchase just for the Blacktron Cruiser.

No. They were always only releasing on 1st of March.
LEGO changed the release slot from January to March last year for no good reason.

Happy new year everyone! God bless, hope you manage to get some great sets tonight :)

200 dollars once you add tax for a gwp.... this has gotten so out of hand. Plus the extra 30$ for a disappointing modular... I am skipping out entirely. I remember some comment in another thread saying 230 for a modular was no big deal... well when you consider they were 160 just a few years ago and were better.... I don't get it.

Ordered the full new Avatar: The Way of Water wave to get past the threshold comfortably - sold some of my older collection not too long ago so it’s gone straight back into the Lego cycle. Really love the Avatar sets - I’ve got some of the original wave at discount and I love the way the builds are so movie accurate within Lego constraints, plus the display stands hidden in the funky foliage!

Avatar sets are amazing, those 2 cheapest, the skim wing and Ilu both look superb models, especially for the price.

By in Greenland,

Has anyone in Europe tried to purchase 75345? I’m trying to plan my purchases for later tonight and I’m wondering how many copies of the sets were allowed to get.

By in Netherlands,

Ordered the jazzclub, redeemed al 4 of my 5 euro discount vouchers (which where available for 100 vip points around black friday) and redemeed my pirate adventure ride voucher for an extra free set. All Said and done a nice discount and 3 gwp's, good start of this new year :)

Europe it says Limit 5 on that set.

By in Canada,

Dont forget that even though the LOTR Brickheadz are not what we want, buying them will show Lego that there is interest in LOTR! Its our best chance! Most wont be able to afford the yet to be revealed set, so dont hesitate to add a Brickheadz or two to your order. If Legos foolishly chosen sets (Could they have POSSIBLY set up the LOTR theme to fail harder than this with three mediocre unwanted Brickheadz plus one unaffordable $500 (?) D2C??) fail to sell, it could be the end of Lego LOTR altogether!

Indeed, showing an alternate build as big picture is a bit odd.

At least the catalog also has some advantages, like some sets have 3d-spin videos, which shows the Cosy House is hinged, improving it's appeal a lot.

Only reason I can think of is that they are promoting the cockatoo to Aussie consumers as one of ‘our’ animals more than the rabbit.

Saying that, the local Lego Certified Store here in Perth had no issues selling out the box with the Rabbit on the front on day one!

Got the Jazz club and cashed in my VIP points, had the £20 in VIP point codes left over from Black Friday plus another £20 in VIP points in my balance. So got a 20% discount on the Jazz Club at least, I like to get the modular at least every year.

The only other sets which interest me which released today are the 6 new Lego Super Mario sets, I usually wait for discounts on those in retailers though and they ALWAYS get the discounts eventually.

However I will have to get the Series 6 Mario minifigs sooner rather than later since they typically only last 6 months before retiring and they are easier to get at release rather than waiting a few months.

Got all the crucial sets.... Piñata, Stuntz Bikes, Panda and Daffodils!

By in United States,

So, no word on the third ride set showing up in VIP Rewards Center anywhere in Europe? I got half an hour before the gates are shattered open.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

As much as I want the Blacktron Cruiser, theres nothing I absolutely need from this wave of releases. I can wait and get it all on sale on other sites.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Jazz Club ordered. Blacktron secured.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ordered max of all the new Star Wars, 2 bombers and 2 battle packs, more clone command station blisters and a bathtub stunt bike....because, why not? Sad thing is? I might be more stoked about the Blacktron Cruiser than any of the other stuff I got!!

By in Canada,

Wow CAD$250 to get the Blacktron Cruiser (that's a lot more than I was expecting). I had a pick-a-brick order of $170 waiting in the system for that so I had to add quite a few items to get to the threshold. I got: 42147, 42148, 60394 and a 6-pack of the CMF (hopefully , there will a be brown spaceman in there).

This means I will most likely miss the year of the rabbit GWP as there isn't much I need until the HP sets are released in March.

By in United States,

I liked the days where all you had to do was spend $125 and get the freebie. Now its approaching $150 minimum and above. I like the Blacktron Cruiser, but nothing was worth going out of my way. There was only about $70 worth of Lego Technics I wanted and I wasnt going to push myself to try to find a set of $120 more I had interest in. I could probably find someone selling it online by itself or cheaper if I really wanted it. I have to make a hard pass this round and shoot for next month when the A-Frame Cabin, and botanicals come out. April's Technic look promising. Lego also needs to round up to even dollars in price and not pull all this X.99 stuff. So if a set is $179.99-$189.99. Just round it up a cent for God's sake! Ridiculous if I miss the threshold all over a nickel!

IIRC you usually get the GWP if you're within a few cents/pence/etc

Wait a minute... You got the Blacktron GWP added to your cart on a (partial) PAB order?
At the dutch version of Lego.com it is stated in the terms for the Blacktron Cruiser GWP that 'regular' PAB orders do not count towards the treshold for this ?! Or perhaps your PAB order wasn't a 'regular' one which then apparently made it eligible towards the treshold? Which makes me wonder what's the difference in such case between a regular and non-regular PAB order? I am confused but it's sure interesting to realize there's apparently a difference if your PAB order counted towards the GWP treshold?!

After reading these terms I only dared adding regular items to my shopping cart, just to be sure.
I'll say it, when it comes to *all* LEGO items in general I personally like I really do not suffer from FOMO, but when it comes to just about anything *LEGO Space* themed or Space inspired sets, Minifigures and even LEGO Space themed Gear my OCD kicks in pretty heavily and I *do* get FOMO for free with it, haha! So I'll openly admit I didn't want to take any chances here! (Also don't want to wait for whatever secondary market prices... Last time I did that was with the GWP 40433-1 1989 Batmobile and that ended in me never getting one since I'm not going to pay *that* much on the aftermarket.)

Happy Blacktron Brickin' and Cruisin' everyone in 2023!

@Bowler4Lyfe:
X.99 pricing is never going away, no matter how you might wish it did. It has a psychological effect of making it look less expensive without actually being less expensive (seeing prices written in whole numbers makes it seem more expensive even before you read the numbers). I mean, that’s not what started the trend*, but it keeps it going.

What they need to do is just knock the thresholds down by one. 99, 149, 224, instead of 100, 150, 225, and it solves all of those problems.

*My dad says the x.99 pricing came from Hudson’s Department Store. They had one floor dedicated to handling money, and the rest were sales floors. To prevent their sales staff from pocketing the money from a sale, they knocked a penny off the price, forcing them to send the money to the cash floor to make change.

@MisterBrickster:
It varies. For a $100 threshold, I’ve had times when it took the full $100, or $99.99, or some lesser amount that have been as low as $99.00. From things I’ve heard over the years, it sounds like it’s based on how many irate phone calls they’ll be likely to get. If it’s specifically paired with a new set launch, they’ll usually forgive the penny. Same for the two Christmas GWPs, May 4, and probably some of the other high profile GWPs. For polybags, maybe not. But they never know in-store what the true threshold is until they test it by ringing up actual purchases and see when it does or does not let them add the GWP.

@Bengh_Zeran:
The Dutch TOS may be out of date. It used to be that all PAB/B&P orders were officially excluded, likely to prevent the abuse of single-piece orders to clear the gap on GWPs that require the full advertised spend. When they merged PAB and B&P, and added the service charge system, they said they absolutely would count going forward. So if you’re just a bit short, and you don’t mind forming over the extra $3.50, you can still tack on a one-piece PAB order to make up the difference, and they don’t mind. You’re paying them nearly $4 for one basic part.

By in United Kingdom,

I went to the London Leicester Square store at opening today, (I didn’t even bother trying to fight through the dozens of people feeling CMF bags for brown Classic spacemen!!!)

But when I asked where the eLunar NY parade sets were, I was told they’d been on sale for a few days but they’d been told to take them off the shelves until the 10th.

I thought they were meant to be out on the 1st.

Anyone know what happened?

By in Canada,

@Bengh_Zeran

Same here; Lego does Classic Space, I do FOMO. Lego does anything else, I don't do FOMO. I may, from time to time have a mild case of fomo with non-expensive HP sets.
I've said it before: I don't understand what Lego doesn't understand in 'giving your customers what your customers want'.

Happy new year! to all those who had their new year today and happy new year ahead of time! for everybody else (Chinese and Orthodoxes I believe)

They seem to be playing silly buggers with them at the moment!

Dec 25, NY Parade and Display became available.

Ordered (and have received) NY Parade.

NY Parade and Display changed to Coming Soon Jan 10 shortly after Christmas.

Jan 1, NY Parade and Display changed to Available.

NY Display ordered (+ another separate order)

Separate order now In Warehouse.

NY Display order now In Process (for 23 hours so far, and where I have a feeling it will stay until Jan 10!)

Somehow managed to order 80111 after midnight.

In Czech Republic this set was available for few days after Dec 25, then pushed to Jan 10, after midnight Jan 1 was available again, I order it, now have it in two separate parts of order (80111 "In process", rest of order with promo "In Warehouse") and now the set again pushed to Jan 10

No idea whats the point of it as it's not a licensed set.
