Reminds me of that terribly-complicated-to-apply Sticker from 79105 ...

Airbubbles everywhere!

Sadly, I can confirm this! Sometimes I randomly come across this piece and wish we had another line of TMNT sets.

I think I remember first seeing this piece (in transparent blue) in Explorien sets like 6856 . We used it for a bacta tank before Lego had the Star Wars license.

Edit: Nope! This one is bigger. Still cool though.

The one you think of came out in 1995 for rockets in the Launch Command line and as lighthouse top in Paradisa.

Although technically you could say that the 2x4 Version started this family of parts.

The first 44 of these that I ever owned were dark-purple. Because I bought that many copies of 7591.

Sorry you can't just leave it like that.... you bought TEN Construct-a-Zurg?! Please tell me you had a specific need for 44 of these in dark-purple for some amazing MOC or did you just find Zurg particularly appealing...?

Umm... 44 ÷ 4 = 11, not 10. :)

And the math award goes to @560heliport!

Built one, kept one sealed, of course stripped the Claw Aliens out of the rest, and just generally wanted to make sure I had at least a small reserve of the dark-purple parts. Ironically, it’s the white pillar that has turned out to be most useful, as that’s the part I used up first. See, when the first Knight Bus came along, I bought one. Just one. I noted that it had a nice array of dark-purple parts, but didn’t buy extras, or stock up on any of the parts (except 2x4 bricks, which I mostly use as packing material, structural walls, or other similarly mundane purposes). Since then, I had to buy 2x2 corner plates at $3 each, and 1x1 plates at $1 each, so I got 11 Zurgs, and something like 20x the second minifig Knight Bus. Just. In. Case.

Guess that’s why they call you PurpleDave

You could make a nice string of Zurg-branded tanker cars using this part and the dish that also comes in that set. You could use the design from set 7939 - 2010 Cargo Train's tanker wagon as a guide. I've heard of it being done before, and it's quite eye popping when done.
