Result: What is your favourite minifigure of 2022?
Posted by CapnRex101,
Almost 1000 minifigures were released in 2022 and we invited Brickset readers to choose their favourites towards the end of last year.
Following over 6000 votes, we are now ready to announce the most popular minifigure of 2022!
Winner: Aloy - 920 votes
- Aloy - 920 votes
- Animal - 549 votes
- Commander Cody - 533 votes
- Taun We - 523 votes
- Vincent van Gogh - 483 votes
- Kermit the Frog - 441 votes
- Golden Dragon Ninja (all characters)* - 423 votes
- Troubadour - 339 votes
- Knight of the Yellow Castle - 318 votes
- Doc Brown - 315 votes
- Swedish Chef - 300 votes
- NED-B - 281 votes
- Dwight Schrute - 255 votes
- Forest Elf - 196 votes
- Robot Repair Tech - 184 votes
- Snow Guardian - 166 votes
As soon as 76989 Horizon Forbidden West: Tallneck was revealed, people began to predict that Aloy would be selected as the best minifigure of 2022! It is easy to see why, as this minifigure is incredibly detailed and represents an essentially perfect translation of the video game character to LEGO form.
Almost every Muppets minifigure received at least one nomination and Animal rose the highest in the voting, likely because of his complex head element. Kermit the Frog also performed well. Converting characters with such unusual proportions into minifigures is often challenging, but I think the positive response to 71033 The Muppets Collectable Minifigures confirms their quality.
Star Wars minifigures also feature towards the top of the ranking, as normal. Commander Cody and Taun We seemed certain to prove popular, given the characters have been long-awaited in minifigure form. I was pleased to see Vincent van Gogh reach fifth place too, as I had feared that superb design would be overlooked.
The results of our other 2022 polls will be published later today.
Are you surprised by the results of this minifigure poll? Let us know in the comments.

Good choice of Aloy!
I personally voted for Taun We, but these two were neck & neck for me.
Well, it was to be expected. Glad the Dragon Form Ninja got 7th though.
If there had only been one Muppet minfig up for vote, it would have had a good chance of beating Aloy. The whole collectible series was just so good.
As I have absolutely no idea who Aloy is, it probably means I am getting too old for this.... Oh well, at least my friend Dwight finished 13th :-)

One of those certainly has the neck advantage!
I am usually quite salty with licenced figures, but here - I havent played the games, but her figure IS PERFECFT. Its simplified, but not simple. <3
Sudsy Simon, the Bathtub Stunt Bike rider was robbed!
Although I voted for the ninjago dragon figs, It was a toss up between them and Aloy for me. Best star wars figure because of his prints was NED-B, but understandably cody and taun-we were more anticipated . My honorable mention was the robot repair tech because of it’s prints and the head underneath the mask, that gave me spyrius vibes and nostalgia kicked in, so good to see it up there in the top15!

If you like to play with video games or don’t, I recommend to try the horizon series. One of the best games ever imho.
I don't think I voted, but Aloy is well deserved.
However, I think my personal favorite minifig from last year was the Wizard from the Lion Knights' Castle. There is something remarkable with how unremarkable he is. Virtually no printing, but still does so much with so little. I love the little guy, and just shows that not every minifig needs to be loaded with unique prints and designs to be cool.
I actually just started playing the first game of Aloy's series last week, mostly inspired by all the positive comments about it in 76989's announcement article on here (as well as it being cheap in Steam's winter sales) - and so far I've not been disappointed! Definitely feels very timely from my perspective, in that case, that Aloy was the one to take the win here :D
She's amazing as a minifigure. It was well deserved. I hope this inpires Sony for more partnerships with Lego. And for the second consecutive year I own the 1st place, yay!
From the comments sections of both the nominations & vote posts, this result doesn't surprise me. But like @Altair1970, I've no idea who this character is, nor the game she comes from. Certainly a lot of detail for a minifig, though.
Can we just go ahead and declare brown spaceman the winner of 2023?

Nope! I mean the Blacktron figure alone will already divide the Classic Space fans.
Congrats to Aloy!
I voted Van Goh but the Alloy and Commander Cody were very tempting candidates.
Hey! I'm so glad, it was my fav figure of the year!
next time example if muppets do that for a choice but have an option if that was picked get choose which one..
Beaker was robbed! :p
Aloy is a good choice. While I didn't vote for her (I voted for Tallneck for best set overall, so felt like I should spread the love), it is an awesome minifigure. But a ton of the series 23 randoms were top-notch and I almost think I should get duplicates of troubador, yellow castle knight, winter guard, etc.
First time ever I own the titular piece of a first place on Brickset.
If Lego ever decide to launch a 'Horizon' line of product (Zero dawn, Forbidden West or Call of the Mountain) I might have to find another job just to finance that. Would definitely be a 'must buy' with a completist attitude to it.
Truly deserved. To me, for a ranking like this, it doesn't matter if you like the character or not, you have to look if the minifig is a good representation of the original (with the limitations of the minifig shape). I think, the (Brickset) community did this poll correctly as the 16 minifigs in the above list are all outstanding in some ways. If I had any complains, I would just say the list might need to be pushed to the 25 bests to include a few that might be missing here.
@billydeewilliams:
Brown Spaceman has to go up against Baby Benny.
Not my pick, but having the Tallneck with the Aloy minifig standing right in front of me, I do understand it.
Never heard of her, but then, I didn't have an interest in the set shes from so... oh well
I have no idea who that is.

"The Horizon-series is amazing, it's just that Aloy as a character just isn't quite as developed as much as that sprawling world is. That said, the amount of love and craftmanship that was poured into this minifig, makes it my favourite of 2022."
Honestly I'd say I'm perfectly fine with Aloy's limited development - games have a unique way of filling in a character's development through the player's experience when playing as them. It's what makes characters like the Master Chief, Gordon Freeman, Samus Aran, the Doom Slayer, etc. all so intriguing. The way you play and how your mind puts together the pieces of the story and play is what helps make characters like Aloy resonate more, because the game lets you play a part in developing her.
All that aside, LEGO nailed it big time with the minifigure design. It is practically seamless from render to physical form, and it has me wondering what other sorts of designs we could see on this level.
I don't play video games, and I have zero connection with this franchise, but I have eyes and I see clearly how good this Alloy fig is. That's why I voted for her. I don't own the fig, but it's definitely the best if this list. I'm really surprised about the popularity of this commander Cody- that's a well printed fig, but it doesn't stand out form all the other starwars troopers for a non fan like me. It's quite boring to be honest.
I really thought Van Gogh would do better given the excellent attention to detail. My wife was amazed that his minifigure was missing an ear, until she realized that minifigures don’t have ears.
It would be interesting to see a “Brickset Hall of Fame” or an article commemorating the top minifigure or top few minifigures from each year’s fan poll. A similar concept could be done with the sets.
I voted for the Ninjago dragon minifigures, but I’m happy with Aloy’s victory.
https://brickset.com/minifigs/mk079/chang-e would be my favorite
Nice. All my votes for sets and my pick for the minifigure of the year are exactly the same as the polls results :)
Animal beat the rest of the Muppets because… “he has a complex head element?”
Nu-uh.
It’s because he’s a damn cool character.
Can you put in an Aloy reference?
Happy she won, she was in my top 3. Wish the Na’vi got a nomination though.
@alfred_the_buttler:
Some do, but I think they’re all either molded into hair or hats, or they’re sculpted heads like the Toy Story Claw Aliens. Even the ones with hearing aids somehow don’t have ear deco. Must have frog ears.

But Taun We had the longer neck...
If I had voted, I would certainly have voted Aloy. Commander Cody would have been a not-so-close second because his arms are too plain and look very inaccurate, would have much preferred white arms with orange shoulder printing
Super Robot Dinosaur Hunter Lady is a good choice. I finally got my Giant Robot Giraffe so I could get the Blacktron Invader Mk II.
Very excited to build both but I’m going to wait until my birthday.
Well deserved! There were plenty of great minifigs this year, but I think Aloy has earned the top spot here. Every detail on her is perfect, and is an almost splitting image of her character in the games.
Praise for Minifigures series 22 please.
4 of them make up the end list.
I bought 11 of the 12 figures and another Forest Elf to gift.
No idea who Aloy is (which is the main reason I didn't vote for her). She looks cool though. I voted for Animal, and glad to see he got second.
I didn't like the Animal minifigure and was mystified as to how he won until this post pointed out the complex printing involved... on a review, I realized how well-done it is considering the complexity. The Muppets minifigure heads are so lifelike I overlook that they are still LEGO elements.

I am mistified about Dwights Schrute fig. I am a huge US Office fan, I have watched the whole series at least dozen times, i own the set and I think this fig has vague resemblance to the character, not to mention it's quite plain in terms of decorations.
I'm happy to see Kermit, whom I voted for, perform so well, even though he is quite basic compared to Aloy. I have that figure myself and can understand that she's popular, she's just not my personal favorite.
The only figure I don't understand why it's so high up the list is Commander Cody. To me that figure looks like any other clone trooper. I can't tell one from the other, just like with all the different Stormtrooper variants. Absolutely not deserved this place imho, since while it might be a popular character (but one which I have never heard of) the minifig looks just as boring as any other of those troopers.
At least Aloy (whose character is just as obscure to me as Cody) is highly detailed and looks special enough to stand out among other minifigs.
How about Ray the Castaway

I love this take…sums up role-play gaming very well.
Well...didn't finish completely "in the basement", I'm one above 'Parka Man and his dog spot'...:)
