I have never seen this part before! Either way, when does the Par or Birdie part come out?

Hey guys Bogie2988 here

I guess it's time to Bogie down.

This part makes me want to dance

This part has been around without major changes basically since 1991. I guess you could say it's 'Stayin Alive'!

By in Australia,

I never understood why they stopped making these in black (which matched the wheels and undercarriage pieces of almost ever train) and started producing them in bright yellow.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They picked a good one with this part.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yellow, because it's covered in bogies.

I had some pins shear on this part, most often when a train derails and falls off the table (it's the kids making it go too fast, really!). At least this is able to be replaced, unlike the ones built into the 9V motor housings that are then rendered more or less useless.

Also @Murdoch17, I believe the only change this part has ever undergone is the total height of the pin.

In all honesty, I was hoping Huw would be funny and choose the fabled goat https://brickset.com/parts/4623941/goat-dec to be the random part of the day considering recent "developments" in the Lego community.

I prefer these in black. Why did we need yellow?

What developments? Best I could find is a report from two weeks ago that they haven't actually ruled out the possibility of ever making the goat again. There was no mention of immediate plans to do so, but they did point out a few times that they could have...but didn't.

I'm right there with you. The pin is molded of plastic way too soft for the potential forces it will undergo (3 ft drop from speed derailment off table).

But, I have to say, the kids jacking around with the trains got me into the theme. I was much more a space, Hobbit, wizard, and sports dude, myself. But, watching them zoom around the tracks and their eyes when they cause (or almost) a derailment, makes me feel like Santa Claus. It's definitely the most fun part of the Xmas Village.

Lego has been pretty cool about replacing them, even for 71044.

The only non-train carriage use is as a turntable base for the main catapult in 7019, although unsure why they didn't just use a normal turntable.

By in Netherlands,

My navigator keeps telling me I've got this thing 'on my six'. I think I need to install a firmware-update.

This thing also makes for an excellent safe-door, by the way.

From the picture I would have thought this was a light switch cover if it weren't for the Technic pin sticking out of it.

To be as vague as possible, goats are very likely coming in a set either late this year or sometime next year, due to the fact that there was a leak yesterday that showed them in a set.

If so, I hope either the mold is different or the printing is completely different. Keep those old ones valuable!

I have no idea if the mold is the same or not, but the printing looks like it is white with brown splotches again.

You should know by now that their list of sacred cows rarely aligns with AFOLdom’s.

The cars on our Disney Train, which also doubles as our holiday train, have exploded more than once. The kids get a kick out of it. At first, I was aghast. Now, I've embraced being a big kid again.

See? You HAVE to read everything about the RPotD of a train part otherwise you would have totally missed that there is a potential new goat in the making - this is big news - and probably of national importance!

It can certainly be a test. When I first allowed "outsiders" to see our holiday village, you probably could have easily taken a picture of radiant, happy children and a crazed AFOL lurking in the background doing his best Grinch impersonation.

Embracing the madness of play has helped me to take many things less seriously.... mostly myself.

Don't like yellow, prefer black or red, but mainly prefer black.

My mogie likes her hogie served on a bogie.

@casloren:
So, funny thing happened. I was scrolling through headlines on Yahoo, and ran across an article from a video game news site that discussed this leak, and described a dozen potential sets. There's no guarantee any of them, much less all of them, will land on store shelves, but about half of them are tied to anniversaries that are being celebrated this year.

The big question, though, is if TLG is so hot to identify and plug any source of leaks, why the heck would they hand out images of unfinished sets in a paid marketing survey? I mean, that's like trying to figure out why your house keeps catching on fire while sitting around the campfire you've created in your living room.
