Ah yes, the invisible motor, powered by Unobtanium.

Huw will be replacing this article soon, I imagine.

Get your posts in before this thread vanishes forever!

That said, looking at the handful of sets this is in, it's pretty easy to find a set that appears to basically be this set: 45303, for those desperately curious.

Bring in the Medium, we have a ghost image on the loose.

I would post for proof that I was here, but then it would get removed with the post.

Interesting collection of sets it is in.

It disappeared.
Just like Power Functions itself.

The image is here! Perhaps @TeriXeri 's medium was able to summon the image back from the beyond!

....or maybe, just maybe, @Huw got it to work right in the end.

The truth is out there!

Hello people and Happy Valentine's. I'm here to do the thing that I've been doing recently, because I don't have much else going on.

It's weirdly uncommon, and even having been around for 6 going on 7 years, it has come in only 6 sets, one of them being one just of itself; 45303. The others are:
21323 (Used to move the keys and all that if you choose to use the app function)
21335 (Well how else would it be motorized?)
42129 (It's a motorized Technic set, it rolls, it turns, whatever)
45300 (See below)
76112 (Makes it drive and turn, etc.)
I am young enough that I was able to use 45300 in school, and it's not too bad, although a bit weird. The piece is used to do... really any motor thing you need it to do. It just is the motor you use.

So there's your not useful inventory of this piece. It's now yours to cherish and make fun of.

From memory this is the simpler powered up version with just a single speed similar to the previous power function, whereas the bigger brother 88008 could have variable speeds controlled through an app. For a steam engine really need XL power function motor as in the Emerald Night motorization then use the variable controller to increase the speed, but this is still not as powerful as the dedicated train motors which are used in the tenders as no space in the actual steam train. Now powered up is also discontinued we have neither formats?

By in Poland,

Is it really the case that it either goes at full speed or not at all? That would be so lame... You could have 7 speeds with PF when you hooked up any motor to rechargeable battery or used it via train speed controller.
Can't you just put in an app whatever speed you need? I was considering buying this.
And why does ambr say PU is discontinued? I haven't heard anything like it.

@Mestari:
Functionally, no motor should be simply on/off. How fast it goes would be directly related to how much power you put into it. However, you do need a variable output power supply. Wire a motor up to a simple light switch, and it is indeed on/off. Wire it up to a dimmer switch, and you can adjust the speed.

And wire it to PU hub? Will I be able to write my own code to run it at variable speeds?

@Mestari:
I was speaking in general terms. I have no experience with the PU hub. I do own two copies of the App-Controlled Batmobile, but they’re still sealed.

It is one of the weirdest motor. It appears in the Motorized Lighthouse. But one cannot buy a replacement from the LEGO.
