30651 Quidditch Practice polybag revealed!
Posted by TheBrickPal,
A brand new Harry Potter polybag, 30651 Quidditch Practice, has been revealed by JB Spielwaren!
It depicts a forced perspective scene with a microscale model, bringing to mind the brilliant technique used in 30652 Doctor Strange's Interdimensional Portal. A unique Cho Chang minifigure is included.
Furthermore, three more 2023 polybags have also been found on the site:
What do you think? Do you plan on acquiring these whenever they appear? Let us know in the comments below!

You know, I wasn't entirely sure on this polybag at first, but by the seventh time R1_Drift said 'nice', I was at last sold on the concept and began to appreciate it more.
Why are they using the old broom piece again?

Huh, I didn't notice until you mentioned it. That is odd.
Struggling to come up with a one word response for this one. Opposite of bad, definitely.
I will need to pick up a few of these to build a Ravenclaw Quidditch team. Too bad there isn't a cape piece like the previous Quidditch players. Will be interesting to see if the rumored Quidditch Trunk set will have similar style torsos for the other House teams. It's also too bad that we can't affordably create a Ravenclaw team with the old style quidditch torso.
That Cho Chang figure is nice.
As far as polybags go this is a pretty good one, I'm a fan of the forced perspective and the useful small parts
Think this looks, nice
I don't really see the forced perspective thing here; 21043 does it marvelously, though
One word to describe this polybag appropriately: nice.

Really? What makes you choose the word "nice" in particular? I have the slightest thought that someone already said this, but this polybag is quite NICE.

"nice"
One does not simply repeatedly say a polybag is nice without writing it all in capitals
It was NICE-ly said though
nice
Just had reply see if gets on weekly lists

I needed all 10.
I particularly like that Cho and the snitch spin around on a turntable.
Now that's a bag I would like to poly
You have to get your own cape and legs? I don't really see what's so nice about that...
Cho finally has a suitable skintone!
Oh, and the new brooms have clearly been ditched in favour of the classic design as evidenced by the Gryffindor House Banner and Room of Requirement.
I don't think the McLaren looks particularly nice. But the chicken and quidditch do.
Very nice. I stopped collecting Harry Potter a while ago, but I might pick this up.
I never see the great poly bags for sale in Denmark only the boring ones. I wonder if they are only sold in certain areas? Any body seeing things like this in Europe?
I saw the headline in the forum and hoped/assumed it would be Ravenclaw. This was the final house that wasn't easy to acquire a full team of easily. Griffindor and Slitherin were in the last quidditch set, and a Hufflepuff quidditch guy was included in some book the likes of Tesco sold at 2 for £7 for ages.

Genuinely baffled me, until I realized you're talking about the other polybags mentioned in the post, and not this one.
Tips and Bricks said they’re stopping reviewing Harry Potter sets, how do you respond? I think it’s a great call
I like the Solus GT. Will hopefully be a GWP as usual at some point, and not just available in some hidden aisle of a lonely supermarket!
I think it’s called ‘Quadball’ now due to ‘she who must not be named’ :|
Worth acquiring just for Cho Chang, plus like the turntable and golden hoops.
I like it, the forced perspective is quite cool
Seriously believe that the Harry Potter theme has Lego's best designers working on it at the moment.
Considering that Hogwart's Legacy has been a record breaking massive success, this theme looks to be growing and growing.

Which part? Talking about politics on a Lego forum?
Struggling to see the forced perspective here, but it’s a nice way for some to get a quidditch mini build, a snitch and a new minifigure I suppose.

How should Brickset respond? By continuing to review the sets.
Tips and Bricks is a dreadfully hypocritical political site, they are demanding a ban on yellow minifigures, moan about Lego being a Danish company etc. Personally I've blocked them from my feed, they just exude so much negativity for what should be a fun hobby.
I guess this is somewhat....nice?
Whatever users’ opinions may be about Rowling, social issues, etc., it’s important to remember our hobbies are not divorced from the real world.
We don’t exist in a bubble when we decide to buy and endorse these products.
nice

Especially when she has explicitly said that she sees the continued success of Harry Potter merchandise as vindication of her views.
Not nice.

So stop playing with LEGO if you don't agree with JK Rowling's views. Nobody else will mind."
Sure, but users shouldn’t get touchy when other users judge this a topic worth discussing when relevant.
The plugging their ears approach catches up to them eventually, which I suppose goes for the leadership of this site itself.
Sorry for what I’m sure is a daft question- but polybags like this, where does one purchase them from? I’m in the UK if that helps. I can’t say I’ve ever seen them on the Lego shop but have bought a few in the past for 3 times their value off Amazon marketplace

People get tired of every single article in regards to Harry Potter coming with comments from a couple people demanding that no one buy it because of their personal beliefs and their personal interpretation of someone else's beliefs.
If you don't want to buy it then fine, but stop demanding others do the same, particularly with your thinly veiled threats ("catches up with you eventually").
Hogwart's Legacy has been a fantastic success, even though a very small, but vocal, minority demanded a boycott.
If... And that is a big if as polybags have become impossible to find... I will get multiple of both the SC and HP bags.

It was a glitch man I’m sorry :(

My comment was in reply to users complaining that politics were being discussed in relation to their hobby. I pointed out their hobby doesn’t exist in a vacuum.
Nowhere in my comments did I demand users stop purchasing merchandise deriving from Rowling’s properties.
No threat intended. Just observing that society is generally trending towards a direction that disagrees with Rowling’s viewpoints; this is a conversation many communities will need to have eventually.
The guarded responses I keep getting are more interesting to me. It shouldn’t be an issue for users to wish there to be an open discussion about this topic even if it intrudes on a perceived verisimilitude that their hobbies are separate from a real world that birthed them and is fed by their consumption. All I’m saying is that’s an illusion and expecting everyone with a differing opinion to simply shut up and opt out is unrealistic.
I'm going to make a completely neutral and objectively true observation that's directly relevant to the set, without commenting on anyone's political views, the actions that those views lead them to take, or any form of harm that may or may not come to others as a result. On top of that, I promise it isn't about transphobia in any way, shape, or form. That should be fine, right? All right. Here it is:
The seven-book Harry Potter series has a single prominent Asian character. This character is named "Cho Chang."
There was an old author who had opinions, false or true.
She had so many beloved books, folks didn't know what to do.
The mob gave her some froth and wanted her dead.
And whipped up LEGO fans soundly when we just wanted to discuss ppp, build and brooms in this stupid thread.
As for the other ones:
- Still don't care about the Solus. Not in SC size, neither this small one. Just give me the F1!
- Race car is......weird. Definitely one just for the kids.
- And Lego clearly knows what to do with....Chicken!
As for JK Rowling. I don't like her. I do like some of the stuff she created. Two different things not hard to keep apart. Far worse people even created much better things.

Comedy home run, well done.
The Quidditch poly I'll get for parts and the minifigure and the Race Car just because it's a good value and has a minifigure.

Well, this is revealing.

"Chang" is a fairly common Asian name, though. I'm not sure about "Cho" as a first name. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chang_(surname)
Thinking of people of Asian descent I know: yeah, they tend to have traditionally Asian last names. It's not uncommon that they have a traditionally Western first name like "Mike" or "Steve," but it's not crazy to bump into a traditionally Asian first name. (Come to think of it, my nieces and nephew have an Indian father, and so, yeah, they all have traditionally Indian first names. They have a Portuguese last name, but I recollect that's driven by Portuguese influence in that part of India.)
So, yeah, Cho could have just been called "Mary Smith" and still be Asian and that'd be normal. Or she could be Cho Chang and that'd also be normal. Or Mary Chang.
I guess the character's name comes down to "not wrong" even if we assume there's some stereotyping going on there.
Anyway, I'm noting both this set and Doctor Strange now represent two forced perspective polybags. I wonder if this is a trend.
I guess this could be paired with the build-a-Hogwarts polybag for a larger micro school grounds set. With, uh, an oversized Dumbledore and Cho battling it out for a chocolate frog.
Unfortunately, we are closing the comments on this article.
The issues surrounding JK Rowling's beliefs are obviously challenging and their importance should not be diminished. However, the focus of Brickset is LEGO, hence we will continue to report on and review LEGO Harry Potter sets, like any others.
We are not taking this stance to make a political statement, but simply to provide the most comprehensive coverage of LEGO products that we can.
