This piece, strangely, was only ever used once, in a Space Police 3 set; 5985.
It's a shame they didn't produce it more, to leave it a possibility to be produced in trans-yellow.

@Randomness: I looked it up on Bricklink. This part has variants which would have their own element numbers. None havet come in trans-yellow, but one has come in opaque yellow, including in 41741, which came out this year. So since it's still in use, there's hope for you yet!

Now that they are doing more parts in transparent colours, and I believe without having to use a different mold, we may yet get that part as a windscreen.

They kinda did. There is a version with handle in trans-yellow from Atlantis year 2. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=92580 "

Well, yes, but the studs are different, and that one doesn't have any sort of anti-stud recievings of any kind, except at the front 'corners'.

Gamer PCs are sure getting stranger-looking all the time.

By in Japan,

Clarifying it’s for polycarbonate variants. Such a good naming convention!

Eh the part with the handle is better anyway.

But I’m biased because I have this part and the trans yellow one on their original sets. This one’s definitely not as playable.

Coincidentally, that version was RPotD about a month ago

This is just the lid on the top-front, which you open to access the floppy and 4x cd-rom.

Well, but the Atlantis version was designed to hinge open. I think they try to avoid putting complicated stuff inside hinged cockpits because they may need to nest over a fully studded surface.

By in Germany,

With all that wokeness around us, do LEGO parts really have to be PC?

By in Canada,

Seeing this part really makes me wish TLG would make more windscreen, in more translucent colors; like this one in Yellow, or Red, even that lighter Blue...

By in United Kingdom,

Always amazes me just how much variety there is in Lego windscreens. Seems like such a simple thing

Apparently, Bricklink lists all these above as 61484 and this one as alternate. Note that trans dark blue is among the known - and the only tranparent - colours, which has to be this one. So, the material has to be the difference-maker.

By in Netherlands,

I've tried installing this on my Mac.

And now I finally understand why there have been so many Fire Commander-sets as the RSoTD as of late. On the plus side, I now know what a Fire Commander does, on the minus side, the fire-brigade was upset on many, many levels.
