LEGO Super Mario reveal coming later today
Posted by TheBrickPal,
Happy Mario Day!
LEGO has a 'big' Super Mario reveal on their YouTube channel today at 17:00 CET / 11:00 EST / 08:00 PST, revealed by Nintendo's website last week and promoted on LEGO's social media accounts in the past few days.
Another teaser yesterday appears to feature a silhouette of Donkey Kong, but I guess we will have to wait and see. Going by previous years, I expect at least a few of the summer wave sets to be announced.
What do you think we'll get, and what are you hoping for? Let us know in the comments, and check out the teaser image after the break...

Can we have a giant Donkey Kong in the style of Mighty Bowser.
How would you see DK in that silhouette?

It's just his head and shoulders.
Wouldn't surprise me if there is at least one set that's specifically based on the new Mario movie...
Are we expecting one of the sets to be an accompanying display piece to sit along side the NES+TV, N64 Cube and Mighty Bowser???
...I hope so.
Looks more like a Brickheadz
Dry Bowser in 71423.
That silhouette looks nothing like the outline of a colourful European SNES set I'd love to get.
@MegaBlocks: There isn't a set by that number. Did you mistype?

Take a screenshot of the above pic and edit the brightness on your phone. You see it fairly well. It’s just his head.

That is the set number for Dry Bowser Castle Battle but the set hasn't been announced yet and so isn't in the Brickset database.

"Movie tie in set?"
Most likely.

The Dry Bowser has horns on the side. It is not him

Not minifigs, and minifigs.

I agree the teaser silhouette is probably Donkey Kong. However, we are talking about a different set.

Exactly :(
Keep your expectations low so you won't be disappointed.
In for the disappointment today.

What about knees and toes? (sorry, couldn't resist. The earworm was too powerful.)
"Head, shoulder, knees and toes, knees and toes..."
I would love to see sets based off the movie, but that probably won't happen.
I really Hope this sets of Super Mario will be awesome!
DK is a welcome addition. I wonder if we’ll get Diddy Kong too?
Is that stone/brick platform in the image above a clue? Is that from a specific level or game? I’m not immediately recognizing it.

But he doesn’t have dandruff.

I think you'll find that it now works ;)
@Fandabidozi:
Of course not. With that much hair on his body, it pays to use it preventatively, rather than wait until it begins to look a lot like Christmas anywhere you’ve recently walked. At the beach. In July.
Every time someone refers to "the movie," I think of the live-action one from 1993. I think it's safe to say that movie won't be getting any sets.
@TheOtherMike:
Aww…if they did some behind-the-scenes sets, like Bob Hoskins getting dialect training, I might actually get a Minifig of someone I know. Excluding business card minifigs, that is.
@PurpleDave: I was trying to remember your connection to Bob Hoskins. But even if they did such a set, it wouldn't be a minifig; it'd be a brick-built character.
@TheOtherMike:
John Tammi, one of my theatre professors, took a sabbatical semester to be Hoskins’ dialect coach. Cockney Bob’s Italian accent is probably the best thing about that movie.
