Random minifig of the day: dim044
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is dim044 Batgirl - Yellow Cape, Dual Sided Head with Smile / Scared Pattern, a Dimensions figure that came in a set that was released during 2017.
Our members collectively own a total of 5,038 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $7.30.

... are we ever going to have a non-licensed minifigure of the day?
8 consecutive licensed figs... 8 consecutive figs I don't own.
If you like purple, this is a good fig.
Another Licensed, DC Superheroes figure that's Batman related. I bet Robin, Catwoman, Joker or Harley Quinn will be next!
I guess she can hang out with Ahsoka now.
I can think of no memorable lines for this figure from TLBM. Batgirl plays a part, but says nothing as funny / iconic as Batman-who-lives-in-Bruce-Wayne's-basement. (Or is it Bruce Wayne who lives in Batman's attic?)
I'm calling it now, tomorrow is going to be a Robin minifigure.
Huwbot is definitely passing their time by watching every Batman feature ever.
HA!
@Formendacil:
They did this because they needed to be sure kids could instantly tell the two apart. Having done a few hundred public displays, I can tell you with absolute certainty that this is a real phenomenon. I have never had this version of Batgirl mistaken for anyone else. I have never put any other version of Batgirl on a layout without constantly hearing people misidentify her as Batman. I have never put out a Batwoman minifig without having people misidentify her as Batgirl. Oddly, nobody ever seems to mistake Batwoman for Batman...
I didn't realize the Dimensions version had a unique head compared to the variant from the proper film sets, interesting.
Interesting cowl type. Something similar to this would have worked well for Robert Pattinson's Batman.
@Muncher:
There were three versions of this costume. One came in four basic retail sets. This one came in the TLBM Story Pack for Dimensions (I got three copies because both Batgirl and Robin had unique heads). And there was also a polybag Batgirl, which was a pack-in with some copies of the film on home video.
I wish I had this minifigure. Came really close to getting her at a market once but bought 30522 instead.
*Clears throat*
"purble"
That is all
Yeah, it is strange that there are no non-licensed minifigs in the pool. Are they so rare?
Batman followed by Batgirl is a funny coincidence.
fun fact: Rosario Dawson's portrayal of Batgirl was the first non-white Barbara Gordon in a feature film. might also be the first, ever.

“Only if I can call you Batboy”
But I do overuse Barbara Gordon’s statistics and compassion way too much.

Same for me.
Hmm... @PurpleDave : You may be right about the purple costume as a means to differentiate her from Batman, I also wonder if it's a 'throwback' to this version of the character's origin (as Barbra Gordon was introed on the '66-era Batman series, with a purple costume).
In fact, I've kinda' noticed Bab's costumes post New-52 drifting back to 'more purple' (although her last costume looks ridiculous. She's got NO 'Batears' at the top/mask). As to Batwoman being mistaken for Batgirl...it's the hair (in fact: it even happened in the comics. When Kate first started BW-ing, Bruce sent Nightwing out to see if it was Bab's...she's not obviously:)). Other then costume, I'd say it's the 'shades' or red that help tell them apart: Bab's hair is more 'orange', Kate's is more 'ruby'...ironically.:)

Yes.
I liked Dimensions.
I've looked at the database and there are 7724 minifigs in scope. 4659 of them are non-licenced, 2565 are licened, roughly 2:1, so I'm as surpised as you are that they've all been licenced so far...
This is the first one of RMFotD that I have, I did enjoy the Lego Batman Movie and wanted all the new Dimensions 'stage' sets that they released. I also got the Fantastic Beasts one and the Ghostbusters one.
Looking at the “Latest Articles” bit at the bottom of the page and seeing ya go from Black Panther to Batman to Batgirl really looks like some weird evolution thing
Not Batman.
A cool fig though. I want to have her on the cycle within the crazy-awesome 70917. But, she won't fit with her cowl. So, she pilots the Batwing instead.
YAY for LEGO Dimensions... I miss it. Never got around to collecting all of the sets, but definitely a theme where I wanted to. Might replay it.
I think it is a nice looking minifig too.
I quite liked Dimensions. I thought the whole "Toy-to-Life"-system was one of the few times AR-integration worked, not just for Lego, but for games in general (see also Skylanders, Amibo, Disney Infinity), and if you're not into the games, you'd still get some cool toys or figures out of the deal.
Most surprising were just the franchises that we got. Goonies, Portal, Gremlins, Mission Impossible, E.T., Portal, Knight Rider, Portal, the A-Team, additional Doctor Who-content, PORTAL. We got some marvelous minifigs out of those, didn't we?
Most crushing were the franchises that we didn't get upon cancellation of year three. If the rumours of the canceled classic B-horror Monsters, Arrowverse, Mega Man, Godzilla & King Kong, Shrek et cetera are even remotely true, well - that certainly does sting.
Still, it was hard to walk past those clearance-bins and see piles upon piles of the same Dimensions-sets filling them to the brim.

How about a magic trick?
I'm gonna make this pencil disappear!
@NotProfessorWhymzi:
If there was ever a non-white version in print, it almost certainly happened in an Elseworlds title. Possibly there could be something from an alternate universe, or one of the cringe-worthy sci-fi stories from when they actually thought emulating the Adam West show was a good idea.
@brick_r:
It may be based on the original Barbara Gordon costume, but it’s definitely not based on the first Bat-Girl costume. When blonde Bette Kane made her 1961 debut in Batman 139, she looked like a Christmas elf.
Given how much 80’s pop culture they did during the first two years, I was kinda hoping they’d do Alf, but I’d never heard any rumored IP before. If you’re referring to what is commonly known as the Universal Monsters, and there was a chance we could have had a legit Creature From the Black Lagoon, now I’m pissed.
People: We want unlicensed Minifigures!
Unlicensed Minifigure of the Day: Generic police officer, random Ninjago variant, unpopular CMF, etc.

That's a legit reason--and I tend to like it when a minifig twists up the "brightness/contrast" from the source material. LEGO should be a little cartoonier. As much as I'm not really a Superheroes collector, I do appreciate that those more comic-based figs vs. the more live action movie-based figs: those are generally blander/darker colours. There's a place for them, but I like getting LEGO reds and greens and purples and yellows instead of all the Dark- variants.
As a non-fan, I'd have had no idea this wasn't her standard look if you hadn't drawn my attention to it!
The BL minifig prefixes of this first week sound like a Doo-Wop song:
coltlbm, gb, hp, sh-sh-sh dimmmmmmmm
