Random minifig of the day: cty0495

Posted by ,

Today's random minifigure is cty0495 Arctic Helicopter Pilot, a Town figure that was first produced during 2014. It can be found in 2 sets.

Our members collectively own a total of 20,956 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $2.50.

And the Licensed streak breaks first! I don't own this guy--so that streak keeps going.

I'm halfway surprised this is a Town fig (or even City, which seems more chronologically likely)--I'd have believed you if you said Ninjago.

I've always been unreasonably into the aesthetic of the various Arctic lines LEGO has put out...probably out of nostalgia for the 2000 Arctic line.
That said, this particular figure is relatively boring to me, I think mostly because the face brings so little character to the figure. The torso print is nice though.

April Fools: this is Superman’s disguise when visiting his arctic chamber when he wants to travel like an average bloke.

So close! I have cty490, the arctic helicopter pilot with the aviator shades.

Wow, we own 20k of these... many more than any of our first six? Somehow I'm surprised there's so many more arctic helicopter pilots owned. I'd be interested to know how many of all the varieties of batman are owned vs all the varieties of helicopter pilots...

@Formendacil:
That's just an April Fool's joke. Tomorrow, @Huwbot will reveal that today's RMotD was actually Clayface in disguise.

I was sure this would happen, for the record. :P

No licensed figure? That’s it, Random Minifig of the Day is officially the worst. It was a good run while it lasted.

What's the betting this is just an April Fool's Day gag and the rest of the month (and maybe the year) will be an unbroken string of licensed figures?

Those slight bags under his eyes…Arctic’s irregular day/night cycle playing havoc with your circadian rhythms huh buddy?

@PurpleDave: So...Basil Karlo then?:)

Also: Always wondered about flying helicopters w/this type of visor...I mean, with a plane, esp. one that breaks the sound barrier/can fly Mach 1 (or least); visors allow an addition barrier for G-forces and pressure changes from higher speed. So unless this guy's flying "Airwolf" or its black-and-red 'evil twin'.:)

“Citizen?! How dare you call me citizen!?”
“What is wrong with being called citizen?”
“It’s only superhero code for LOSER!”

@brick_r:
I was thinking more like Matt Hagan, since he's the version they used for B:TAS (at the time, Basil Karlo was basically just Lon Cheney with a murderous bent.

Right? For those of us of a certain vintage, you say “helicopter,” we say “Airwolf!”

Well, I had the Atlantian and the Batman minifig, but when we go non-licensed I don't have it. Looking at my collection I reckon I've got more chance of having a licensed fig than these. But we'll see...

Edit: just checked and over 50% of my minifigs are licensed.
