By in Canada,

Blacktron would make minced meat out of this guy.

He's no Classic Space fig... but that build-on-able pack is definitely kin to them somewhere.

I really like the red band printing on the one leg.

Hmm... I mean, astronauts are cool and all, but this outfit just seems... I don't know. Lame? It doesn't really work. The white and light blue together for this is not aesthetically pleasing, and it doesn't super correctly portray an astronaut suit, as I assume it's supposed to.

@ElephantKnight : I suppose it is just another example of Blacktron supremacy

Among many Classic Space, Futuron, Blacktron, M-Tron, Ice Planet, Insectoids, Life on Mars and Spyrius figs I own... there's that guy and his friends from 60348. Their rover while cool is nowhere as cool as 6928 and 6927. Their flag is now being held by the red astronaut from my 1557.

Um, "Town?" I think you mean "City."

Never have I ever understood the opaque, gold face shield.

This is Lunar Research Astronaut
I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in a most peculiar way

Given that City was essentially just a replacement for World City, and World City was a replacement for Town, all three of those themes' minifigs are classified as "Town" figures in the database

By in Australia,

Just doesn't seem bulky enough for a city astronaut, and not sleek enough for a space astronaut.

I feel like this should have drawn a C&D letter from the Disney lawyers...

@MeisterDad:
The real things were transparent with a gold mirror treatment applied to the exterior, like aviator sunglasses. There's really no equivalent in the LEGO color palette. Chrome gold was probably the closest they've ever been capable of achieving. Chrome is out, and other "gold" colors are in, so this just happens to be one of those times when the set designers probably find a secluded corner for a private cry.

I really like these space figs. I picked up a bunch of them from that LEGO website thing where you order stuff one brick at a time.

At first glance, I wondered when Lego made a helmeted DJ with Mickey Mouse ears.

Boots n cats, boots n cats, boots n cats...

By in Germany,

I kinda wish they'd develop a semi-opaque visor for the next time. It's kinda sad you have a wide variety of faces but you can't see them. The dark blue visor for last years wave seemed even more dull.

By in Poland,

I have bought this entire line of city space. A small move with a big impact is that they included both helmets and hair parts for the crew. I like the suits too, placed somewhere between the sleek suits of pilots and the bulky EVA ones.

BrickLink continues to use the archaic term in its categorisation, so we do too.

By in United States,

@Huw: Thanks for the explanation. I'd sort of forgotten that your minifig data comes from Bricklink. Also, something I've been meaning to ask: When this feature was introduced, you said, "[C]ertain categories will be excluded, such as Duplo." Are minidolls/microdolls, microfigs and brick-built figs (such as GNK droids) among those excluded?

I mean, he includes a hairpiece, so presumably you're meant to take the helmet off sometimes.

He'd like to come and meet us, but he thinks he'd blow our minds...

Yeah, I wondered the same thing.

Well, wouldn't that fit right into the Vidyo theme? When that was cancelled they clearly didn't want the figure to go to waste, so they put him in a City/Space set instead.

The ears reminds me of "Bearbricks" (Japanese forerunner to Funko-pops, resembling clone-brand Fabuland figs). IMO everything about those is stupid, like the use of the "at" symbol in the name (dating them to the late 90s when e-mail was new and hot), using the word "bricks" when they're neither part of nor compatible with any known brick system, and how some of them looks downright creepy and ugly (like some Adidas ones where they'd replaced the entire face with an Adidas logo).

When Shirley Manson sings this, it’s “coom and meet us”.
