Ah yes the subject of one of my all-time favourite LEGO Easter Eggs. I even spruced my copy of the set up with a whip and fedora in the vet's office!

Doesn't really look like Harrison Ford though.

What's the Easter Egg you're referring to?

Back to yesterday's discussion, @ridgeheart yes that was me who made the Blacktron 1 XL-15 on Eurobricks.

In the set, 10264 Corner Garage, a sign on the window of the vet's office reads "Dr. Jones Animal Care: No Snakes!", a reference to the Indiana Jones films.

Back to yesterextraday:

@brick_r:
Onward was the last film I saw on the big screen before the pandemic lockdown, and I really liked it. The ending does not play out as expected, but it definitely works. The next three (Soul, Luca, Turning Red), I own, but have not yet watched. Strange Worlds looks like it would be right up my alley, but I was boycotting Disney films for the way they screwed over Pixar during the pandemic (no Strange Worlds, no Encanto, no Raya). I may still pick up the DVD.

Lightyear, on the other hand, I really liked. I didn’t think of this until today, but it feels very much like the spiritual successor to The Incredibles. It’s fairly light on humor aimed at kids, and the plot is more serious with higher stakes. I really hope it gets a sequel.

The big hangup half the potential audience had was that they “recast” Buzz Lightyear. They didn’t, though. This is a human character, where the Toy Story films featured a character that’s a toy. And Small Fry had a different toy voiced by a third actor. And the animated series had a fourth actor, playing essentially the same character from the Lightyear film. If this had been released ten years ago, it likely wouldn’t have caused such a fuss, but these days every casting decision is viewed through political lenses, and that skews how films and TV shows are rated by the viewing public.

And maybe once Toy Story 5 has come out, with Tim Allen once again voicing toy-Buzz, people won’t be so incensed if they announce Evans is returning to reprise human-Buzz in a Lightyear sequel.

@TheOtherMike:
Yup, gotta get the whole name, and no extra spaces. And not click through the link. Anyways, I know exactly how to make Old Buzz, and I plan to see if I can make a Zurg suit for him to pilot. I also really want to tweak the yellow drones to make them more screen-accurate.

The head looks more like Dr. Jones, Sr. to me, so I could have seen "No Rats!" just as well.

By in United Kingdom,

Is this the same head as the guy we had on the 7th? Must be brothers

The mustache reminds me of Don Carlton from Monsters University.

Brain in a vat, I'm pretty sure. Avoids messy bodily-centered medical bills due to visits with Dr. Rats that we Americans so love.

Or they’re just two of the handful of lookalikes all human beings apparently have? Or there’s like some Doctor Who concept I can’t recall the name of that they used as an in-universe explanation for meeting different characters played by the same actor.

@PurpleDave I wouldn’t hold my breath for Lightyear 2. The first one managed to recoup its budget and make a small profit, but it’s nothing like Zootopia, Frozen, or even Toy Story 4. Big Hero 6 did between at the box office than Lightyear, but so far Disney hasn’t touched the idea of a sequel to it.

Thankfully being a British robot duplicate means my vat bills are covered by the NHS

@SearchlightRG:
As far as I'm aware, Pixar decides what movies they make. Lightyear may receive clemency if it's felt that the pandemic slump wasn't completely over. It'd be a shame if they never produce a sequel, as the end of the film set up so beautifully for one.

Unfortunately, we're not so enlightened. But, what do I know? Just a silly head in a vat who thinks he exists.
