Two badass-looking black-clad minidoll ladies in three days. Huwbot has is in a mood right now.

If I were even a tiny bit more into minidolls, I'd have been all over the Elves sets: the designs are fantastic (fantasy-tic, even), and the minidoll prints are fabulous. I just don't like minidolls. Pity, in a sense--some of them were really good, such as Noctura here.

On the other hand, one does save more money not being into ALL of LEGO's fare.

By in Singapore,

Very good minidoll and probably one of the most expensive ones! Really miss elves and hope it comes back

Even the cape is beautiful.

I know @GSR_MataNui sticks to the RPotD's mostly, but I could appreciate some lore here. I sort of phased out when Elves was happening.

To anyone knowledgeable about pricing (secondary market), is this expensive for a minidoll?

Sorry Bud. I still haven't gotten around to Elves. I watched like 4 or 5 episodes when the Netflix show came out, but all I remember from that was the twist of this one guy being the Goblin King came way too early.

I thought it was the right arm that’s obsidian, before it spreads to the rest of the body in preparation for slaying the old moon and taking his place.

I know I watched all of that Netflix show, and I can't remember a thing from it. There were like 3 different shows for Elves though. There was like a YouTube Series, the Netflix one, and then some other. I don't know how anyone's supposed to keep up with that and make sense of it all, but I suppose the Bionicle Community could do it since they did that with all the games, books, comics, and movies of that property. As a Star Wars guy, you'd think I could, too, but I just don't concern myself with anything that's not a movie or show, so there goes my nerd cred.

Dang, I miss Elves. As others have said, if they were minifig sets, I would have been all over them. Instead I enjoyed them from afar. Hopefully we see something similar soon(preferably with minifigs, but I would be okay with minidolls).

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Minidolls have no wrists, and can't bend the legs separately, unlike regular minifigures. But Minidolls with a dress can bend down, when a minifig with a dress cannot.

And in place of a dark lord you would have a queen! Not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the dawn!

Noctura’s official Lego.com description, courtesy of Brickipedia:

Since the elf Noctura was banished from Elvendale to the Shadow World by Lumia, the Guardian of Light, she has spent her life planning her escape and revenge on Lumia. Finally, with the help of her loyal bat minions, she has managed to steal the four elemental shards from the four guardian statues. Now she just needs to capture all the four Elemental Guardians themselves and harness their powers. Before long, she will become stronger and more powerful than ever. Her time has finally come to break out of the Shadow World and rule all of Elvendale.

Sigh. I really regret not buying elves sets at the time. At the very least there's good wigs and parts to be reused elsewhere.

I can't imagine we'll see it's like again. Elves was to Friends as Chima is to Ninjago.

I don't like this one. It gave me a cold shoulder..

Yep. Friends lacks villains nowadays (though the show does, admittedly, well without).

I never watched the show, but she is one of my favorites from my Elves sets. Awesome line. Noctura still sits on my coffee table in her bat tower with the Earth fox.

Very Glad my wife got into Elves in the Dragon wave, which made getting them all easier than it would be now. Some very good sets in the range and I am still disappointed they finished it. (My wallet would be relieved, but I found other slimming diets for it.)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I loved the Elves range, and collected virtually everything. This was a rare minidoll series where a fair number of adults were attracted to it and bought it.
One day I could do with setting up an Elves display - but it would be huge...

The greatest trick Nova ever pulled.

By in Greece,

I love Noctura, she is one of the best minidolls that i proudly own! The design for the elves characters were just fabulous to look at. This wig piece... i can't even describe how much i love it! I'm so glad that we saw her last year in andrea's theater school, in one of the posters! Man, the elves line was.. fire, so sad that it's over. Sure one of the best original lego themes out there. And it's soooooo much underated.

Do you mean in "Doodle Doom"? Nova is surely my favourite and I'm curious what she's up to in the future ;)

@panagliamp now you know: it was a heartlake theater stage play all the time!

By in United States,

Loved the Elves theme, and the set this one came in was fantastic. I remember wondering why no one was reviewing it at the time. This minidoll is an outstanding mixture of class and gravitas, one of the best minidolls ever produced so far.

@ElephantKnight:
In truth, there were certain eras in Europe, at least, when women of courtly stature really couldn’t bend at the waist. I’m pretty sure that’s half of the reason they would curtsy rather than bow.

@SearchlightRG:
Right, right, Keymaster, Gatekeeper, yada yada yada.

@NotProfessorWhymzi:
Huh? No, that’s Mirumoto Hitomi’s storyline from the Legends of the Five Rings CCG. A rival clan’s heir killed her brother in a duel, traded his soul to an Oni, got a crab claw arm in the process, and when Hitomi challenged him to a duel to restore her clan’s, and family’s honor, he crushed her sword hand with the crab claw (breaking the family’s ancestral sword in the process). She got an artifact called the Obsidian Hand bonded to her injured arm. It started turning her arm to obsidian, she used it to help defeat the first main villain, it ended up turning half her body to obsidian, and she ended up having to challenge the moon to a duel to defeat the next main villain. Afterwards, she took over as moon.

@Ridgeheart:
What’s your deal with Nova?

Within the launch of the new Friends-line there is a current spate of animal-mutilations, ranging from simple bruising and scuffing to eyes being gouged out and legs being torn off. I have reason to believe that Nova is the monster behind these atrocities.

If it turns out that I'm wrong, I'll be the bigger man and take back at least 40% of the terrible things I have said and have yet to say about her.

Rock Raiders was kind of the prototype for this concept and TLG deemed it successful (according to https://brickset.com/sets/ISBN9780789446916-1/The-Ultimate-LEGO-Book). There were 3 different types of lore produced at the same time and supposedly coordinated from some central authority (unlike previous Lego IPs like Time Cruisers, Aquazone etc. where Copenhagen's Advance did something and Mania Magazine did the exact opposite...). However there were still contradictions between the 3 (in-set comics (EU only), CD-ROM game, adventure book). Maybe there were even other continuities (PSX game, Minifig Collection). Bionicle was far more coordinated in that regard, although there are still some prominent examples of official canon that got retconned by either Faber or Farshtey - most notoriously the implied relationships between Huki/Maku (Hewkii/Macku) and Jala/Hahli.

So you just pin it on the pseudo-goth girl? What does she get out of this? Did it ever occur to you to look for who stands to benefit from wounded and maimed animals? Who runs the animal rescue service?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Great figure. But then again, all Elves figs were. I love how colorful and ornate their designs were. It's not readily visible from the front but Noctura's hair actually features teal highlights around back.

This fig also cameos on a poster in last year's Theater School. I like to imagine that the play she appears in is a fictionalized version of Noctura and Lumia's relationship—more or less a Lego Elves version of "Wicked".

Have a look in her room, Dave. Look at the evidence in 41755. Before you look at her workbench, before you look at the cruel selection of tools and the actual blueprints to build a mechanised dog, look at the lightsabre and the chair which shares its design and its colour-scheme with Darth Sidious' throne. And why does she have a minifig-skull in her room? Whose skull was that? Does she not believe that minidolls and minifigs can live in peace? Did Ace Brickman find out too much? Is Nova building a robopet-army to foment war between dolls and figures, or is it just a cruel hobby?

Whoever cut off Pickles' legs is either Nova or her henchman, taunting the poor cyborg-dog with the frisbee. Look at their faces. Look at how INTO it they are, those sick monsters.

"Game on" indeed, Nova. I will crush you.

She's just the general. The blood emperor penguin will be most please nobody has noticed this so far...

This year I finally got into elves by buying the water dragon. I've been eyeing Ragana's Castle since the theme launched but the sets weren't high enough of a priority for me at the time over other licensed themes. Looking at some aftermarket prices... yikes. I'm not sure I'll be able to get into it anymore at this rate. But that's okay. I still love the theme for what it is regardless!
