Random minifig of the day: min022
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is min022 Blaze - Plates Stand, a Minecraft figure that was first produced during 2015. It can be found in 2 sets.
Our members collectively own a total of 8,682 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $5.90.

I first saw these in LEGO before I saw them in Minecraft. Not a bad rendition.
Our first barely a minifigure that isn't a minidoll! What an occasion.
Well that answers the question of whether they are filtering out brickbuilt 'minifigures' Two minecraft on the same page!
Also, it looks pretty good.
This is what watching Spongebob on too many mushrooms looks like.
I can kind of see the resemblance to the in-game Blaze and kind of can’t at the same time, weird.
If there's a Blaze in you Nether region, they make a cream for that.
That's a minifig? It's cool, but that's a pretty loose definition.
Looks like that moisture vaporator is on the fritz again.
Random Minifigure living up to it’s name!
Despite 10 + years of updates, the base progression of Minecraft's gameplay has remained the same. Get your hands on some Diamonds, harvest Obsidian, build a Nether Portal, kill Endermen for Ender Pearls*, kill Blazes for Blaze Rods, craft Eyes of Ender, find the End Portal, and slay the Ender Dragon. Let's' focus on the Blaze's and their portion.
Players can enter the Nether by creating a ring of 10 or more Obsidan and lighting it on fire. This portal will take them to a hellish landscape of fire and lava. Occasionally ,darted among these caverns, you can find long and broken brick bridges spanning the magmatic expanses. These are Nether Fortresses.
Within the Nether Fortress you can find the Blaze. Blazes are tall plumes of fire and smoke that burst forth from Spawner cages at the Fortresses edges. They hurl balls of fire at the player and are immune to fire damage. They can, however, be damaged by snowballs and water. Water can't be placed down in the Nether and snowballs don't do as much damage to them as a sword, but in a pinch they could be a fun way to make the fight more interesting.
When slain the Blaze will drop a few of its Blaze Rods. These sticks can then be crushed into Blaze Powder. Blaze Rods are a key ingredient in the Brewing Stand, which is used to brew Potions. Blaze Powder is used as fuel by the Brewing Stand, or can be used to brew Potions of Strength. Blaze Powder can be combined with and Ender Pearl to create the Eye of Ender, which can be thrown and followed as it flies to locate the mysterious End Portal that leads to the end of the game.
There are a few special variants of the Blaze in Minecraft Spinoffs. I've only played the main campaign of Dungeons and haven't started Legends yet, so forgive me if I'm missing some, but the most notable is the Wildfire.
The Wildfire has a very interesting history. They began as the Hovering Inferno, one of the four options to vote for in the very first Mob Vote. They lost the vote and so weren't added to the game, but remained in the fanbase's consciousness. They were a stronger variant of a Blaze, wielding four flaming shields instead of the outermost rods and wearing a crown with a red jewel. Eventually the mob was renamed Wildfire and reworked as a miniboss for Minecraft Dungeons. While statues of the Wildfire appeared in the Flames of the Nether DLC, the actual miniboss remained unused for some time. I believe they were fully added at some point but don't quote me.
*This is one of the only things to change. You can also get Pearls from bartering with Piglins and (at least at one point) trading with Villagers, the former of which is the fastest method.
And since the discussion is cropping up again, I'll throw my two cents in the ring as this being classified as a minifgure. The thing to keep in mind about LEGO, is that both LEGO sets and LEGO minifigures are considered collectibles. One of the main functions of Brickset is to serve as a database of all the items in a collection, as an easy way to see what parts of the collection you do and don't have. While many characters depicted in LEGO are explicitly minifgures, some are not. Despite this, collectors of the characters of a franchise would still have interest in obtaining these brick-built characters even if they aren't minifgures. Someone who collects minifgures and is into Mario would want to keep track of all the different face variations of the Goomba. Even though the brickbuilt Goomba isn't an actual minifgure, classifying it as such makes it easier for people to navigate the database and their collection. In a similar vein, anyone who's into collecting minifgures and into Minecraft is probably going to want to get their hands on every LEGO mob, so classifying minifgure-sized mobs like the Blaze as minifgures makes that collection easier to keep track of.
@GSR_MataNui:
This is something that has been argued for years on Bricklink. On the one hand, you’ve probably got non-sentient beings from Minecraft that get classified as minifigs simply because there’s no other category to include them in. On the other hand, you’ve got the titular character of a TV franchise, who talks, and has a distinct personality, who gets classified as an animal because he happens to be a dog.

Holy moly, you going to be doing this for every random minifigure that has some lore/background???

They don't "delete" hashtags.
The code for comments on Brickset articles appears to be such that hashtags only work in conjunction with set numbers in order to create links to those sets' pages.
In any case, even imagining your comment with hashtags I don't see any kind of joke there. Or at least none that I would understand in order to find it funny.
If this is “Blaze-Plates Stand” is there a version that’s “Blaze-Free Flying” or something like that?

MIN071 uses a 1x1 cone with a nipple plate as a stand

Ah I see, there’s a legit different design. Think I prefer this one; can actually be placed on studs and look more like the in-game versions
Just because it's not Bionicle or Hero Factory doesn't mean @GSR_MataNui can't come up with a lore post!

I'm confused. I can't find any reference to these substances in his original comment. But remember I'm no native speaker of English, so some references might be lost on me.
@AustinPowers: A lot of it is slang. American slang at that.

Blaze = to smoke.
420 = the traditional daily 'tea' time for smoking weed among enthusiasts. Now celebrated also as a yearly holiday. Here, in Colorado, what was once spontaneous gatherings in parks and public spaces has transformed into civic and concert festivals on April 20th. Also, ironic because the Lego set of that number has police.
Colorado = home of the Rocky Mtn High. The first state in the first western nation to explicitly and without reservation legalize the recreational consumption of marijuana.
I Got 5 on It = hip-hop song about weed.
