I love the way the older version of this part was used in 70734 . The much smaller dragon in 71234 (which I don't have, unlike 70734) also made clever use of that version.Random thought (of the day): It'd be funny if today's random Minifig and Random Set were food themed.

Le Croissant Le Croissant, How I love Le Croissant,
Such a useful and changeable piece.
As an eyebrow or mouth,
Or part of a house.
Wherever you put it, it's Nice.

I love croissants. It's like if bread and butter had a baby, and it's a fun shape. Everyone loves things that are fun shapes, right?

The hard corner on the handles looks a bit awkward compared to the original. I get why stuff like spear shafts have switched to flat tips, but here it was part of the aesthetics.

But are you going to finish it?

Definetly! Didn't even know this version existed, I only have the old one, but I would agree It's not the most stable in minifig hands. Still, this version is no alternative for me, It looks so unnatural...

By in Sweden,

Is it possible to mention a LEGO croissant without thinking of 10243 Parisian Restaurant?

Oof, those flat ends aren't doing it any favours. Minor change but major step back from the old design. Anyone know why?

That looks like a very dark shade of brown, bit too long in the oven?

@raven_za:Well, not *now,* it isn't.

@jol: Probably so that a hollow stud could hold it. The old, rounded ends wouldn't provide enough grip if the stud had a solid bottom, like a modern 1x2 jumper plate .

And since you're shaped
like a croissant is
no question of, she's gotta love
a part like you.

Is that a Jimmy Neutron reference? I haven't thought about that show in 15 years! Although, I would have thought Carl's favorite part would be the Minecraft Llama. ;-)

Who wants to share a croissant with this guy!

Lego movie references aside, I actually wrote a poem about croissants in creative writing class this year! It was a set of haiku. If people want to see it, I’ll comment it.

As @TheOtherMike says, flat ends lock into recessed studs while rounded ones have a very loose grip. For minifigs, this isn’t a problem, but they’ve probably built this into a model using that connection at least once. I know of three other parts that have undergone a similar change. The S1 Zombie came with a shovel that had a flat end, while European shovels were still being produced with the round end. I don’t know when the changes happened, but the old Castle spear and the short, bar-style antenna have both shifted to flat ends as well. One of the neat tricks this now allows is you can get the antenna in trans-clear, and any TLM/TLM2 Benny who has his original airtanks can be mounted by the airtanks to the tip of the antenna. For a more dynamic pose, you can even add a jump stud. This provides a secure enough connection that Benny can even hold a modest amount of weight in this manner.

By in Australia,

I love croissants and I love Lego croissants. Note that croissants actually come from Vienna, Austria.
It is hilarious that Parisian Restaurant used croissants both for food and architectural details.

I do agree with others that the colour Ive never quite been happy with, I'd prefer it in tan. In fairness this does look like an Australian croissant (always bloody overcooked!)
