Engineering in space is much the same as usual, just now with cool visors. No mouth and ear protection though, so he's going to die sooner or later.

Tbf he is a part of the ground crew. Here's hoping he doesn't climb aboard the rocket

I've always liked the white hardhats; I have a few of them but I don't have this guy.

That's a very pained smile. I don't think they like their job too much.

Or maybe they don't feel male, and are wincing at the misgendering @Huwbot just did.

I shall call him Tech. So long, Tech, and thanks for all the good times!

Pretty sure the description is taken from Bricklink. So let's go blame whoever created the catalog entry. (It was happygolucky)

I didn't notice it before but you are right. They look like the fake smiles my kids have when we take family photos. Until someone (not saying who) makes a fart noise and the real smiles appear.

Welcome to "Lego City Workplace Safety",
Here we have Dave...notice his: Hard Hat, Goggles, Safety Vest, Work Pants (made from plastic-based material, ironically), and his I.D. Badge.
And over here, we have Emmet...Ummm...We'll come back later, and check in on him...We hope...:D

Maybe they’ve just stubbed their toe; should have worn steel toed boots with the hard hat

Better than being assigned to Security. Oh wait, that's Kirk, not Ole Kirk.

Don't need ear protection when you don't have ears.

*taps side of head, right near where ears would be*

Sure. First stop, they pay a visit to Circe.

In 2014, this minifig head appeared in four Arctic sets. The next year, tiring of the frigid temperatures, he switched jobs to work on the ground team for a Spaceport. Sadly, this career change seems to have ended tragically, as he was never seen again.

Maybe he was trying to warm up his frostbitten mittens beneath the warm exhaust nozzles.
