Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is njo141 Ghost Warrior Cowler / Pyrrhus / Cyrus, a NINJAGO figure that was first produced during 2015. It can be found in 4 sets.
Our members collectively own a total of 34,956 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $3.10.

Cowler... Oh, because they're wearing a cowl! That's much better than Cyrus. Maybe not Pyrrhus, though. How are you even supposed to pronounce that?
So many ghosts, in so many Lego themes, both licensed and not. Except Sta Wars WHERE ARE MY FORCE GHOSTS?
@Randomness: Pyrrhus is a historical name; it's where we get the term "Pyrrhic victory," because Pyrrhus of Epirus saw a fair few. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrrhus_of_Epirus
@Randomness:
What, did you forget everything you learned in your ancient Greek language class? I did. But, I mean, it's been a few years, and I did much better with learning how to pronounce stuff than I ever did with actually learning the language itself.
If only all that blue and purple and was black and white instead.....
Why would anyone name a figure after someone who won battles at great costs?
Cyrus though, he was a winner. Mostly.
There are several different forms of afterlife in Ninjago. Individuals who are despised and revolting in life, drawing the ire of others, go to the Cursed Realm when they die. People in the Cursed Realm are slowly converted into glowing green ghosts. These spirits come with the typical ghost powers, flying through walls, turning invisible, possessing people and objects. But a unique trait in the Ninjago world is that while ghosts can swim through solids like they were liquid, liquids act like solid stone, allowing you to kill a ghost with water. Ghosts destroyed this way usually have their souls returned to the Cursed Realm where they remanifest.
During the Season 5 story, The Preeminent, the physical embodiment of the Cursed Realm, set sights on conquering all of the 16 Realms. During the story's climactic conclusion, the eldritch beast emerged into Ninjago. Nya unlocked her True Potential during this fight, and used her newfound elemental powers to wash The Preeminent down and drown her in the sea. With The Preeminent's death, all ghosts within the Cursed Realm were sent to Ninjago's final afterlife, the Departed Realm, and any surviving ghosts in Ninjago could eventually face the same fate.
This ghost in particular has no direct role in the story. While there might have been a lore paragraph on the Ninjago website at some point, I'm pretty sure he's just a random background troop.

Apart from that one time he really should have thought about the oracle's message a little more carefully...
Is the reason this guy has three names attached to him because, with the hat and bandana, we can't actually tell which one he's supposed to be?
I ain't 'fraid of no ghost!
I got one of these when I was a kid. Knockoff, though. Ended up recording a video of me being extremely destructive towards this guy and a couple other fake figures. Kind of regret it nowadays, they were still precious to me when I was younger...

She would be right though.
2015 sure was a year for Ninjago. I liked the Possession sets although the entry bar was higher than the Tournament of Elements sets. And since most sets were forgettable vehicles I only got the Titan Mech Battle after saving up a year.
@ElephantKnight, so basically njo254 Sensei Yang but with less green and gray?
