The latest issue of the always excellent Blocks magazine is now landing on doormats and will be in the shops soon. Here's the press release:

If adventure had a name, it would be… Indiana Jones – or maybe Johnny Thunder. Uncover the secrets of LEGO Indiana Jones and LEGO Adventurers in Blocks magazine Issue 104. To mark the launch of this new issue, anyone who takes out a print subscription this weekend will get extra free magazines and a free poster.

Issue 104 is available worldwide as a single issue or as part of a subscription at blocksmag.com and will be in UK stores from June 1.

To sweeten the deal even further, everyone who subscribes by May 31 will be in with a chance of winning 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol, 10313 Wildflower Bouquet, and one of SIX copies of LEGO 2K Drive!

Design Master Harald Pofahl takes readers inside LEGO Indiana Jones 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol, before living legend Niels Milan Pedersen reveals the secrets of the LEGO Adventurers – learn the inspirations behind the classic theme, find out why there was never a pyramid and see unused concepts that could have been future destinations for Johnny Thunder and friends.

The other big Lucasfilm franchise is also included this month, as the LEGO Star Wars design team explains how the Ultimate Collector Series X-wing was reimagined and what it’s like attending Star Wars Celebration as a LEGO professional.

Every year, talented builders get involved in Bio-Cup – an online challenge that’s all about constraction parts and making amazing models with them. Blocks takes a look at the incredible creativity that comes out of this contest, as fans make those very bespoke BIONICLE elements work in new ways.

See how LEGO botanical elements have evolved over the years, from the early flat trees to the amazing range of pieces that are available to builders today. It’s quite the journey and is a great example of how element design has changed.

That’s not all of course – read reviews of the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy sets, look back at classic LEGO Town models, count down the top 10 wacky sets and find much, much more within the 116-page magazine.

For a bonus dose of Blocks magazine, 100 Incredible LEGO Builds edition celebrates the amazing creativity of LEGO builders from around the world. It is guest edited by Head of Design Matthew Ashton, with commentary provided throughout by the LEGO design team. No LEGO fan should miss it!

Blocks is giving away 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol! To be entered into the prize draw and to get Blocks magazine delivered every month – ahead of the shops – visit blocksmag.com and check out the money-saving subscription deals available.

Everyone who subscribes to the print edition by July 5 will be in with a chance of winning (existing subscribers will automatically be entered into the prize draw).

I'm curious as to why they used Harry Cane on the cover, I thought Dr. Kilroy was Henry Sr.'s Adventurers counterpart

It's nice to see Blocks magazine highlight the return of Indiana Jones because I feel like LEGO hasn't done enough to promote or market the theme. The only advertising I've seen is from Smyths in the UK. Harry Potter had 7 retail sets (if you count Fantastic Beasts), a collectible minifigure series, a small polybag (Harry's Journey to Hogwarts) and a D2C set with a gift with promo to boot. By comparison 3 retail sets with no news down the track of any future sets is underwhelming and that's putting it lightly. If LEGO judge the reception to be poor they only have themselves to blame.

Oooh, this may be another issue I have to pick up. I'm not a Blocks regular, but didn't regret buying their issue last year that featured Bionicle... and the promise of behind-the-scenes details of Adventurers, one of my other childhood Lego favourites, is definitely enough to get me interested!

Just read it, it's a great article.

Johnny Thunder is 100 times the adventurer man that Indiana Jones is.

LEGO needs to bring him back to us!
