Another re-coloured set coming soon!
Posted by CapnRex101,
LEGO experimented with producing certain sets in alternative colours a couple of years ago, most notably including 77942 Fiat 500.
Presumably the test was successful, as 42162 Bugatti Bolide Agile Blue was released today and another such set has been revealed. 31144 Exotic Pink Parrot is identical in design to 31136 Exotic Parrot and retains the price of £19.99, $19.99 or €24.99, but features alternative colours.
Compare the two and find box images below...
Huw's review of the original set is available here.
Which colour combination is your favourite and are there other sets you would like to see in alternative colours? Let us know in the comments.

Doesn't work as well for the alt builds imo but the main model looks so much nicer. Great color choices.
It look decent enough, though not as nice as the normal coloration. Will this one end up releasing in the US unlike the previous test?

The blue one's available in the US. Saw it at Target 4 days ago.
After making a realistic-looking Blue and Yellow Macaw, why spoil it with unrealistic colours, when they could have made a Scarlet Macaw?
Cool, this alt color works great.
Pink birb.
Looks like a Pride Parrot.
Scarlet would have made more sense, but I kinda like it anyway
Have to agree that a Scarlet one would have been more realistic. Either way these make good parts packs. May need to pick them up when discounted.

It's actually a gluttony parrot!
I think the concept of recoloring sets would work better if they release at the same time. Then you have the choice which one you want. Now if you rather want this version and already have bought the other one, you have to buy the same set twice essentially.
Also, those half-bushings in pink are new, right?

I mean, that’s exactly why they don’t release both at the same time…
I love when they do alternate colored sets! More variety of parts in new colors too!

But how can LEGO make a profit if you aren't able to buy sets more than once?
Had I known about the new smaller micro Hogwarts, I would have saved my money and bought that instead of buying the larger one a few years ago. But LEGO knows how to get money.
In pink? A flamingo macaw? Seriously?
Anyway although i like the blue one, the feet put me off, so wasn’t even considering buying these. But now i read that it is in pink and i just have to make a comment about how stupid it is (although i like all those pink pieces :-D)
Alex Jones was right- they’re turning the frogs gay!
Jk of course, cool to see these pieces in these colors available
Huh, I figured the re-coloring of the Bolide was because Bugatti changed the color they're using in their marketing materials. I actually like this set a lot better in pink. Neat!
It should be red. There are no pink macaws. It's supposed to be a scarlet macaw.
Quite hideous. Stick to respraying cars... leave the animals alone!

It's already on the US site with an August 1 release date.

Now I'd like to see someone make a larger version of the bonsai tree, but instead of pink frogs it's built out of magenta frog B-Models.
Waiting until they make a green one. My mom has a Nanday Conure, and it would be easy to change a green parrot version into him.
Wow LEGO could have done the parrot in red and recolored it to go with the pirate they won’t sell to the public. Swing and a miss @lego

They sell the big buildable pirate minifigure to the public, if that is the one you mean.

I would be far less shocked to see either a tree frog or a tropical fish with that coloration than a parrot. I may see if it’s possible to color-swap for shades of red to make a scarlet macaw, or maybe a red-and-green macaw.
Ironically, when I did a search for “pink macaw”, just to see if _maybe_ this was legit, the first image that came up did look very similar, with a more vibrant pink body, and yellow/green/blue/dark-blue banding on the wings. It was also edited to make it pink.
@Shadowcloner:
The Fiat and Dinosaur sets were tests and geographically limited. I think the recolored Bugatti is already out in the US. Testing phase is over, so I’d expect this to sell anywhere that carried the normal version…unless they’ve gone out of business.
@Brickodillo:
Or it was dyed that color at the pet store, like neon tetras.
@kkoster79:
Ooh, there you go, make the set based on the modern parrot element. Some parts red, some parts green, and some parts get randomly included in eithe red or green. No two copies alike!
Not sure why it's pink instead of red.
This is all well and good, but where's my Blue Squadron X-Wing

They technically may be selling it to the public but unfortunately most of us don't have the means to get to the one place they are selling it from as an exclusive.
It shall never top 31058 and its variants.
So we have got official images now of practically everything, except the fifth Sonic the Hedgehog set and minecraft. Any word on when we'll get them?
I think Dark Pink as main color is a good choice here, and the extra color variation into a scarlet macaw pattern makes it look a bit different from a direct color swap as well.
https://petkeen.com/types-of-pet-macaws/
14 types of Macaws but no pink ones. Anyway, it is a toy, so imagination is king. I
First thing I saw was those pink technic parts!

Presumably when everyone buys the $100+ set, because they aren't aware robotnik will be available in a cheaper one...
Sure pink may not be a realistic color but I think it’ll look great next to the blue of the original!
I wish they would do the Typewriter in a different colour as I can’t get the green one anywhere now. The blue bird still looks better than that pink one.
They could have made it Red to match the lego minifig scaled parrot but they chose to make it pink?
@ozbrickcreator:
Still waiting on the HP, Marvel, and City Advent Calendars as well...and wondering if Quill made a quick stop in Heartlake City...
Lol… First Ariel & Aragorn and now this!?!?!? …Jokes!
Honestly, I really like LEGO having this approach. Should happen more often. …perhaps with Botanical sets too.

Lego has published images of the set in their for kids section. It should be on the regular site and Brickset anytime now.
It will be nice to fill out my Pokedex with the shiny version.
I am suprised they havent made one in Lego Parrot collors. Many people mod it that way
For part colors I can see this. But it feels like a mid range cash grab to me.

Oh, I see now. That's a bit of a disappointment. I already have a much better Death Egg Robot MOC and a custom Orbot and Cubot that looks way better than this. A cheaper Eggman is great, but they could have done better. Also, STILL NO KNUCKLES AND SHADOW!!!

I think he means the different colour tests…
I’m not sure about US, but in Australia we are getting the recoloured Bugatti Bolide.

is a sloth parrot possible, or would they need to renew the Avatar: The Last Airbender license to mix animals like that ??
Look good together as a couple, in a him and her kind of way.
@ShilohCyan:
They have Harry Potter, which has traditional fantasy mashups like hippogriffs and centaurs.
@ambr:
Male parrot and 80’s aerobics instructor parrot? She just needs poofy legwarmers and three cans of hairspray holding everything in place.
I didn't have much interest in the original parrot set, but now I really want to grab them both!
That exclamation point in the title is doing a lot of heavy lifting

That was my thoughts too, especially as that's clearly what its based off of to an extent.
It kind of looks like a Cockatoo and Scarlet Macaw were put in a washing machine together ??
Should've been red,this feels unrealistic as a color

Actually they only sell the Lego Pirate Mega Figure at the lego house. which is not to public except those who travel to Denmark. So 200+ countries in the world can not just purchase this set. Sadly.

They're absolutely killing me, they were so close to making a great companion, but this is a terrible color choice. I'm sure someone will eat it up, but considering how nice the gold and blue one turned out this seems like a massive missed opportunity to have some scientifically accurate LEGO sets of various animals. Oh well. Maybe this one will be a massive shelfwarmer and teach them a lesson.
Sadly the mighty dinosaurs re-color sets never came to the US
So now we have boy parrot and girl parrot :ppp
tbh I like it pink : D tho I just like things in pink X"D
I'd appreciate a recolor of the Porsche 10295. Really love that car, but white is just not doing it for me.
