Random minifig of the day: min010
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is min010 Zombie - Dark Purple Legs, a Minecraft figure that was first produced during 2014. It can be found in 15 sets.
Our members collectively own a total of 632,928 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $2.00.

The perfect mob-building minifigure. They're just so ubiquitous with the theme.
BRAIINZZ!!
You're so square... Baby I don't care....
whatta cutie
I still to this day can't decide whether the purple pants on the Minecraft steve and zombie figures was a good colour choice, or a bad one
It's so cute
Seeing the figure up close like this, I have now noticed what high foreheads they all have.
Zombies are one of the oldest and most basic enemies in Minecraft. They're the most common melee enemy, slowly approaching the player to claw at them. Despite their simplicity, there are a handful of interesting features of Zombies.
Zombies are capable of calling for help. If a player and Zombie engage in combat, the Zombie puts out a silent "call" allowing other Zombies to spot the player from farther away than they normally would. In harder difficulties, this call may even prompt additional Zombies to spawn.
Zombies can wear all kinds of equipment, including armor and tools. Killing these Zombies has a chance for them to drop their gear, although it's often damaged. Zombies can also rarely drop materials like iron, potatoes, and carrots, making them a godsend for things like Skyblock and similar limited gamemodes.
Zombies not only seek out players, but also Villagers. On Hard mode they're capable of breaking down doors, and on most difficulties may stage Zombie Sieges on Villages. As difficulty increases, the Zombies have a higher chance to infect the Villagers and make them Zombies as well.
Zombies are an Undead Mob. These means that they burn in direct sunlight, take extra damage from the Smite Enchantment, are ignored by The Wither boss, are (basically) immune to drowning, and the effects of potions of health and instant damage are reversed.
Zombies have quite a few variants in the game, such as Zombie Villagers, Baby Zombies, Husks, and Drowned. There are also a number of similar Mobs, such as Zombified Piglins and Skeletons.
I got a few of these for my Hunger of Zombies, which has reached the point where its outgrowing the quart bag I keep them in. Every zombie is a bit different, so there's this guy, plus a version with a silver helmet, plus a version that's on fire. I finally have all of the Minecraft zombie variants, so I believe I have every officially released zombie, and the only thing I'd be missing is the insanely expensive Zombie LEGO Store Employee that was custom printed outside of the company for a LEGO Store managers conference.
There's also a lot of original stuff, like some zombie clowns (using Krazi heads) and a Zom-Bee. I've even got the zombie shark from the Silent Mary chowing down on the zombie pirate captain CMF.
@GSR_MataNui: I'd been playing Minecraft for some time before my stroke (haven't played since because I can't use my left hand well enough), and I didn't know about the "calling for help" thing. Brickset's loremaster strikes again!
Over 600,000 are owned collectively. Thats quite the mob farm they have over at LEGO.
@TheOtherMike:
Have you looked into alternative control systems? I've found some PC game controllers that allow you to map anything on the keyboard to different buttons, and even program in character strings. In my case, it was because I'd picked up some PC games where they didn't give you optional control layouts, and the D-pad worked exactly the opposite of what I was used to. Since the publisher wouldn't patch the game to allow you to pick how the controls worked (I asked, they refused), finding a mappable game controller meant I never had to put up with someone else's idealized layout again. Until I bought a Wii to play LEGO games.
The in-game zombies have (or at least had) a darker green region on the head that corresponds with Steve’s hair and the Micro Mob reflected this. Why doesn’t the Minifigure, would it really save that much on printing?
Like an 8-bit Grinch
@TheOtherMike
It looks like it didn't work this time.
Lets see if I can do it: Master Wu
Wait, just 15 sets?! Minecraft has been going for 8 years already. Did they update them!?
And yes. You would be surprised how common it now is to have themes run for years on end.

No, but with armor, it count as other minifig:

It is probably more that there are ones wearing armour, helmets, pants and such. Those seem to count as different figures and get a different number. Even plain Steve has only been in 24 sets. Creepers and Alex have been in 19 and 17. So the gear-wearing variants mix things up a bit. In my opinion I think that speaks well of the distribution of figures in this theme.
Heya Tom, it's Bob, from the office down the hall
Good to see you buddy, how've you been?
Thing have been okay for me, except that I'm a zombie now
I really wish you'd let us in
I think I speak for all of us when I say I understand
Why you folks might hesitate to submit to our demand
But here's an FYI: you're all gonna die screaming
All we want to do is eat your brains
We're not unreasonable - I mean, no one's gonna eat your eyes
All we want to do is eat your brains
We're at an impasse here, maybe we should compromise
If you open up the doors
We'll all come inside and eat your brains
@Ridgeheart: I'm not a monster, Tom
Well, technically I am
I guess I am...
Fifteen sets? That's got to be the Random Minifigure of the Day that's been in the most sets so far, right?
...yep, it is, I checked. Before this, the RMotD to have been in the most sets was Lasha with eight, and after him no Random Minifigure had yet been in more that four sets. So this guy holds that record so far.
You know,the minecraft sets are still pretty good,when the actual game feels like it's getting worse.

What? Minecraft is one of the PC games that every update was at least good one.
I always wondered if Lego would have used or designed a square brick if they didn't already have the inflated round brick lying around at the time they were designing the mini-fig.
@ThatBionicleGuy:
It does help that this is probably the most generic army builder that has appeared so far.
@ambr:
But the solid stud minifig head was created for the miniquin. It was introduced in 1975, with the earliest form of Town sets. And before that, the Homemaker maxifigs had spherical heads, so this was actually a step closer to what Minecraft heads look like.

It feels like the game is modded with all the useless stuff they add.

What does that mean? should they stop updating it? Or are you saying that if they added more powerful stuff it would feel less modded?
