Most recently in 10323 I wonder why we have never gotten the inverse version of this and the 1x4 bracket. (Meaning with the bracket going up from the plate, instead of down.)

Yeah, that’s very confusing
Anyway, most recent set I got this in is 76918: McLaren Solus GT & McLaren F1 LM

Wait wait, I know this, uh...
Let's see, order of operations, PEMDAS, um...
1x2 is 2, and 2x4 is 8, so 2/8 is 4, so the answer is... wait, no.
1x2 is 2, and 2/2 is 1, and 1x4 is... still 4.

Anyhow, it's 4! The answer is 4.

By in Netherlands,

It's especially useful for when 2 https://brickset.com/parts/design-21712 don't fit.

On things like simple 4 wide cars for example there's only 2 studs space in the gap in the classic wheel arch piece in a set like 31068 : Modular Modern Home (not the most spectacular car, just an example of a small build with limited space)

I also wonder why we haven't seen these parts. Someone probably did design them, but they haven't been made in the real world. Same thing happened to X track for monorail (designed and patented but never actually made), until recently people found out and 3D printed them instead.

Anyway, hopefully someday these brackets will exist for us to use!

Some parts just seem to disappear too, like the https://brickset.com/parts/4646525 Plate with wall 4x3x3 was pretty specialized for open dump trucks mainly, nowadays probably the ratcheted pieces would be used https://brickset.com/parts/design-65133 (as seen in the open cargo wagon in the 2022 train)

By in Canada,

Another one of those pieces I tend to see as City bumper or grille bases.

I don’t tend to use these much because the four-stud width is all wrong for 6-wide cars, at least up until they started making 1x brackets. Now, who knows? Maybe.

It's also a very nice piece to use for a one unit thin layer between plates/bricks. I would very much like a six stud wide version of this.

Tend to use the 1x4 side plate version part 2436 far more as around since 1994, so a lot more colours and cheaper.

How about "oops, big boo-boo"?

FUBAR is generally accepted within military circles.

By in Canada,

Very handy for the front end and back end of vehicles (cars, trucks, and so on). Last one of these I had though (in black), I used the mount two 2x2 turntables for an old-style 'tape drive' for a computer/office set-up.
