Shame this piece didn't appear in more sets.

@Jackaroo1701:
The right half appeared twice, while this and the gunport version appeared one time each. Given the changes at DC, I would be a bit surprised to see these return. Fortunately, I got doubles of both sets, so if I ever get around to building that version of the Batmobile, I can make it with and without the gun and don't have to care about what the prevailing market price is at that time.

I have this set, and had no idea this part was unique to it. Huh.

I ended up with the less rare piece twice somehow so I bricklinked the Batmobile and built the gun port on the opposite side.

Now you got me thinking, so I had to go look things up. I forgot these were in 76046, but I also apparently misremembered that there was an alternate version with the gunport. Apparently this is the only version included in 76087, and there's no version that's left.

I also forgot how ugly a job they did building the giant gun into the space where the other half of this pair was previously located. I think subconsciously, I just wished there was an alternate version with a gunport.

I thought this was the piece from 76045 Kryptonite Interception. I guess it’s probably the same mould but different production run.

Edit: same year as 76046 (the clue is the sequential number, doh!), I wonder why the piece is not linked to 76045 as well.

What? So we don’t even have a matched pair after all? And the five-digit number is the Design ID number. While two or more molds may have the same DID, no mold would have two or more DIDs assigned to it. If they had two sets come out at the same time, each coming with a different pair of these, there would have been two sets of molds, and there should be some sort of difference between the two sets (aside from the DID number).

If it's the LEFT windscreen...how's it classed as "hole"...:)

Also @PurpleDave: "Given the changes at DC..."...yeah, you're correct; still doesn't stop me wanting say a/some "Blue Beetle" sets...or ones based on their animated stuff (DVD/Blu-Ray, NOT CN/AS)...oooooor...and here a 'wild thought'...just start doing sets NOT based on movies/tv/video games/ect...but the actually COMICS. I still maintain a DC CMF 2, would sell great...

at least the Batmobile this was attached to was still more of a Batmobile than whatever the '22 version was supposed to be.

You know how you can really easily tell a set is from the mid 2000s if it has those long smooth parts that never mesh well or bionicle parts? I get that from the Batman sets from around this time, A lot of them look like Nexo Knights sets colored black. Just the part usage and angles are really similar for the more advanced vehicles around this time.

Pretty cool of that set it was in to include 3 aircraft, Wonder woman's jet looks pretty nice.
