    Something is missing here

Written by (AFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in Hungary,

Buildings can be placed on a printed hard cardboard. A good solution, but not so durable, especially at the edges.

It seems like you can do a lot with the set, as there are many vehicles and buildings. But if we assembled the set, it turns out that the game function is limited. For example, there is the crane. It has no cargo. There is no extra 1x1 brick or 1x1 plate or round brick to load. Then the red warehouse building with the winch. It doesn't have a hook, so you can't hang it from the rope. In this way, the box made of 2x2 bricks must be transported with a cord, or it can only be loaded upstairs. It follows that trucks and ships have nothing to transport, no containers.

All inscriptions in the set are solved with stickers.

    Port Crane

Looks really good. If it still rolled on rails, it would be even better. But I would also be happy if it was possible to somehow put a figure in it. Loading docks don't usually have grass on the ground, so a 6x8 gray plate would be better for the crane foundation.

    Red warehouse building

This is the best, most elaborate building in the set. Too bad there is no hook for the winch.

    Police station

A bigger or longer pier would have been better for the police station. Or put the whole building on a pier like the red warehouse.

    "Company" building

This is the most boring building in the set. It's just a decoration, it doesn't have any play function. It has no details, no interior. Although this is a bigger building than the police station, a machine tool could fit here. And what kind of company is this? It won't be revealed. It looks more like a factory. It would have been better if the designers had placed the inscription not on the wall, but on a separate board (brick).

    Cargo ship

2 things bother me. One is the rare, large red special shape part that designers could have replaced with a 6x16 or 6x24 plate. The other is that the wheels are visible on the side of the ship. It would have been better if a motorcycle fork or an airplane landing gear were used for the ship's wheel, such as the winch of the red warehouse building in the set. A figure could fit on the ship's bridge, but the roof was designed so that it could not be placed there.

    Trucks

A forklift is really missing from the set. Instead of two trucks, a bigger truck with trailer and a forklift would have been better.

    Overall

For the reasons mentioned above, the game functions are limited. But these old sets are not bought to play with, but for nostalgia, and that's why it's perfect.

    My mod

I have corrected the deficiencies mentioned earlier, using parts still available in 1975.

I replaced the ship's wheel with a motorbike fork, which is also used as a winch in the red warehouse building.

I replaced the big red special part with a regular 6x24 plate. This way, it is more beautiful, requires fewer parts, and has more cargo space.

I also modified the roof. Instead of a 4x6 plate, I put a 4x8 plate. Thus, there is a slight overhang of indicator lights. And so the figure fits on the back deck.

I looked at the crane, what it would look like with wheels and a gray base.

I put the police building on a pier like the warehouse building. I put a spotlight on the roof for the ships because it was so boring. And on the street front, I put a street lamp next to the stairs.

I put a 1x2 slope on the side of the jeep instead of the plates. I also changed the engine of the boat to a 2x2 slope. I simplified the bow of the boat to a 2x4 brick. No need for so many plates. It doesn't get any better. Unfortunately, inverted slope bricks did not exist at that time.

You only have to look at the building here. Because I modified both the boat and the jeep, not according to the instructions.

I opened the back of the company building and put an imitation machine tool there. I changed the loading platform to gray.

I put 2 lamps on the wall at the front of the building. To do this, I had to take out 3 windows and replace them with 4 smaller ones. I put the company inscription on a separate board/brick.
