    Huge set

Written by (AFOL , gold-rated reviewer) in France,

    Parts

This set contains a massive amount of large pieces. What stands out the most may be the big amount of 6x6 wooden panels (23!). It also has many large doors, 2 big barrels, 4 baseplates. Though the parts tend to be very repetitive, it is mostly brown log bricks.

    Minifigures

The minifigures are nothing too special for 1996, though the bandits have good torso printing. I think most of them can be found in other sets, except maybe what appears to be a general and is basically just a slightly different soldier with a fancier hats. The main pro is the number of them, you get over 10 minifigs with this set, so the fort is pretty well defended.

    The build

You spend most of the time building brown walls, so it's not very complicated. The house on the back is a more interesting build and features many cool play functions, such as trap doors, a prison, and a treasure hidden in the fire place.

    The completed model

This is a very large model (and very brown too). The thing looks like serious business, bandits will have a hard time attacking it.

LEGO Western - Fort Legoredo Review

Written by (AFOL , rhodium-rated reviewer) in Germany,

Now this is one of my favourite LEGO sets I own. It has so many playabilities and so many minifigs (It comes with 10 minifigs in total). You can't really complain about this set - even if it comes with a few stickers. I'm sure that this set had been so successful that this had to be rereleased in 2002. It also has some nice rare pieces like the golden trumpet.

We get a wagon with a canon which really shoots, an office for the calvary chief which has a table with two chairs and a card game. If someone is cheating you can sviwel the table and the figure is falling into the jail or into a corridor where he can escape. This set comes with a box where you can hide a rifle, three outposts and a huge balcony where the guards can guard the fort. I love the design of that model and it's lot of fun to build and play with this set. Even if you don't like the western theme I would recommend you to get this set because it's a gem in your collection.

All in all this set is a great model and I would highly recommend you to get this. You can find this set on eBay, BrickLink and Amazon for sure. Here is the link where you can check out the full galery I made for this set on my website: http://www.klokriecher.de

A Design to Survive the Ages!

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in Canada,

I bought Fort Legoredo exactly one day ago at a local auction, a built it today.

The size and flexibility of this set is quite well liked among all owners. Having four desert baseplates, this fort is built in four sections. Each design combines playability with classic Lego ingenuity.

Coming with ten figs; 6 US Cavalry, 1 cowboy, and 3 bandits.

The only flaw with the figs is that the bandits (and cowboy) are exactly the same as the ones that came with Sheriff's Lockup. that asides, having so many cavalry makes the fort seem busy. Not to forget the three horses... all different colours!

I paid $66 CAN for this set, complete, great box, and book. This set sold for approx $85 US back in 1996 so I'm well aware of the good deal I got. I would have paid retail price and, looking at the fort now, I still would've been happy having paid $100! Yes this set is worth its value, given that just yesterday I saw a Frontier Patrol sell for $40 US!

It's not worth doing pros and cons, seeing how there is so little to complain about. There are, to some discomfort, stickers. The only thing more annoying than applying stickers yourself is when you buy a used set and find the previous owner had shakier hands than someone with Parkinson disease.

The parts are great, if you happened to buy two you could easily break down the other to make custom fort designs. Playability is really what sets this set apart from the rest of the western theme... kids and adults alike will have many fun battle scenes at Fort Legoredo! "Remember the Legoredo!"

  • A love story thirteen years long...

    Written by (AFOL) in Italy,

I've craved the Fort Legoredo set since it came out back in 1996, but at the time it was too expensive and so I had my parents buy me the Bandit's Secret Hideout (the gold mine) instead. But I didn't stop dreaming the Fort at all...
Yesterday, more than 13 years after I first fell in love with the Legoredo, I finally got it thanks to a close friend who knew how much I wanted this set. After so much time, even if I'm a tad too old for Legos, it's like a dream coming true.
Fort Legoredo is an amazing classic Lego set, probably one of the best ever made; it's big, there's plenty of minifigs (even if they could have put an extra bandit), you get two large entrances, sturdy walls and a handful of interesting traps and hiding places.
The front part is great: there is the main gate watched over by the two (small but nice) red roofed towers. The rear part is the most interesting, with the headquarters building which includes a prison, a vintage-looking stable (that reminds me the old great castle sets of the 80s) and a spacious room with two armchairs that can become dangerous traps. The west side features another entrance and a watch tower that could have been better: in my Fort I turned this into another tower like the ones over the main gate, and I think it looks great now. The east side is a simple but nice wall on which guards can walk to oversee the area.
As a conclusion, Fort Legoredo is an amazing and versatile set, an instant classic which can give hours and hours of great fun. Just get one, you won't be disappointed even if you're not young anymore. 5/5

    Pros:
    - nearly everything, cons are small and unimportant

    Cons:
    - the watch tower on the west wall can be nicer
    - just three bandits against seven soldiers

    Thanks for reading ;)

  • A Legend

Written by (Unspecified , rhodium-rated reviewer) in United States,

If you owned any sets back in the 90s, this is one you had to have. This set is amazingly fun to play with and is one of the best Lego sets of all time. I like the amount of minifigures in this set and the big barrels so they will hind in them. The brown pieces really make this set a fort and also detailed. This is an amazing set and it is a set that will stand the test of time.
