Eat My Shorts...Attitude Lacking without Voice Clips.
Set #71211 The Simpsons Bart Simpson Fun Pack: Honestly, this entire set is one that is a bit disappointing. Mostly because Bart can’t speak, there is no dialogue for him at all in-game, that being said let’s look at the physical aspects of the set and see if it is worth it or not.
Packaging
Not much to say here, it’s a very nice looking package design and the art work looks nice seeing Bart in LEGO form with that great personality for the character.
Parts
This set has 34 parts, pretty lackluster for a set that is basically a Polybag. If it weren’t for the digital elements this would probably only cost about 5$ as well. Aside from Bart’s Slingshot accessory there also isn’t much here for MOC fans.
Minifigures
Bart Simpson: Using all of the same parts as other Simpsons based sets, this particular figure is not unique. In fact you could probably get him cheaper from Series 1 of The Simpsons CMF, however that Minifigure does not include the Slingshot accessory, so there is variance here if only slight.
The build
Gravity Sprinter: This build is a Box Car Go-Kart style model and is actually designed quite smartly, the model was a fun little build, even if it lacks actual LEGO wheels, though it should still be capable of rolling.
Street Shredder: This is a different type of Go-Kart, it uses all of the same pieces in a different design which looks just as different as you would hope. It’s a very fun design and the build is interesting enough.
Sky Clobberer: This build is pretty easy and fairly amusing turning a land vehicle into a flying design, again using all of the same parts. There isn’t much to say about these builds, they are relatively simple after all.
The completed model
Gravity Sprinter & Alternative Models: All three of these physical models don’t appear to amount to much, but they are rare in that they are one of a handful of models that you can build from LEGO Dimensions that can actually have the character standing on the model. So Bart can fit on any of the three builds in the driver’s compartment, which means you can take both toys off the tags and play with them or if you prefer display them with the rest of The Simpsons based LEGO sets as fully functional models.
The Digital Content
The Adventure World: I went into great detail on this world in my Homer review, Bart accesses the same The Simpsons Adventure World, all of the critiques and praise I can discuss about this is already there so I won’t bore you with a repeat of it.
Character & Vehicle Abilities: Bart is a short legged character, as such he is one of few characters able to use the Mini Access portals, his slingshot also gives him the Target ability, he is one of the only characters who can finish a Puzzle in The Simpsons world, Gollum and Gimli are not able to solve the puzzle which makes Bart a must own character to solve a puzzle and get a Gold Brick unfortunately.
The Gravity Sprinter can use Accelerator Switches, the secondary model adds Speed Boost and Tow Bar to the available abilities and the third model gives you the power to use Flight Docks, Cargo Holds and has a Special Attack.
Overall opinion
Bart is a character that you wouldn’t need to buy at all if it weren’t for that one puzzle inside The Simpsons Adventure World that requires his unique combination of abilities to solve. That being said, Bart and his Vehicle are capable of being played with off the Toy Pad in earnest, so I’d say he’s a decent enough offering. However I’d recommend getting him at discount, which is the only way to get him these days unless he’s already sold out in your area. Mildly recommended.
