Hurl Chairs with Bad Cop.
Set #71213 The LEGO Movie Fun Pack Bad Cop: Are you a fan of Bad Cop? Do you want him to join forces with Batman and the rest in LEGO Dimensions? Then you’ll need this Fun Pack. He has no unique abilities or adventure world, but he is a nice enough character to add to the roster.
Packaging
As with all Fun Packs this package is perfectly fine. Bad Cop looks great on the front and the overall design looks perfect when all lined up together on the shelf.
Parts
We have a lot of black and white elements in this set since you are building a Police Car model. The only elements unique enough to this set I feel are the curved wheel well looking parts found inside.
Minifigures
Bad Cop: Found in Bad Cop’s Car Chase, the print and detailing on this figure is the same as seen in that set, which looks very nice. I foolishly let the larger set slip away so have yet to add it to my collection. Aside from the facial expressions there isn’t much different from him from any other Bad Cop. He includes a stud launcher accessory.
The build
Police Car: Much like with Emmet’s set this build is very satisfying and uses quite a number of parts. It makes a very good model and looks fairly accurate to the in-game model.
Aerial Squad Car: This is similar in design to the hovering DeLorean from Back to the Future, it doesn’t look much like the flying model seen in the actual movie. The build is modified to allow for the wheels to face downward in flight mode. A very satisfying model.
Missile Striker: This model resembles the official flying model of Bad Cop’s car a lot better. It features a fun design and a much closer profile to the larger model’s flight mode. With the doors open and missiles ready to launch, it’s a great model and fun to build.
The completed model
Police Car & Alternate Models: All three of these models are really great, the Police Car rolls well on wheels and can be played with off the toy tag. The second and third models aren’t capable of rolling, but can be held and flown around the room with little worry of things falling off. These models are definitely worth getting the set for, multiples if possible at deep discount to have some fun display pieces to go with the larger models from The LEGO Movie Theme.
The Digital Content
The Adventure World: Again Bad Cop let’s you visit The LEGO Movie adventure world, there’s not much else to say really.
Character & Vehicle Abilities: Bad Cop has the Laser ability, can use Wyldstyle’s power of Relic Detector and can Target. These three abilities aren’t very unique, however Bad Cop and Wyldstyle are the only two with the power to detect relics, so it’s good to have a spare in case you misplace or lose one of the Toy Tags when taking them back and forth to your friends’ houses.
The Police Car can use Accelerator Switches and has the Tow Bar ability. The second build gains the power to fly and interact with Flight Docks and Cargo Hooks. The third model can do everything the second model does and also has the power to destroy Silver LEGO Objects.
Overall opinion
Bad Cop is a fun set, all of the offerings from The LEGO Movie are pretty impressive, the vehicles or toys are all designed quite well and work well as physical toys and in-game puzzle solvers. While they don’t offer much else in the way of digital content they do let you get some of your favorite characters without needing to hunt down the Retired LEGO Movie sets.
I strongly recommend this set mostly for the physical toys. I feel that The LEGO Movie Fun Packs aren’t really important for 100%ing the game and solving all puzzles and beating all levels, but they do offer some pretty great little models and Minifigures. To find and purchase them on discount at retailers like Five Below in the States or Dollarama in Canada is a great deal as well. Especially if you want to build multiples of the vehicles. Recommended.
