Set #71227 The Simpsons Fun Pack Krusty: The third and final pack released from Series 1 with The Simpsons theme in mind is a Krusty the Clown Fun Pack which makes sense, Hank Azaria does his voice and this allows for some more clips to be used by Krusty. That doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, as I noted in past reviews The Simpsons Theme was almost perfect except for the problems with the main Theme song being replaced.
Packaging
Krusty is about to hit you with a pie on the front of this package, the rest showcases everything you’d come to expect from the Theme.
Parts
Some ice cream toppers and a pie are a few of the interesting elements in this pack, but honestly it’s a pretty generic parts pack with nothing rare or useful for large scale MOCs. A few pearl silver space guns are included though, which does make for a nice little aside.
Minifigures
Krusty: If you picked up the CMF version of Krusty you pretty much own this Minifigure already, the head sculpt and print work is the same as the CMF.
The build
Clown Bike: The build for this model is fairly nice and simple enough to complete, there’s not much to discuss about it considering how few parts are used in the construction… I will note however that the model is a perfect match for the in-game digital model.
Cannon Bike: There’s pretty much very minor differences during the construction of this secondary model, the steps alter the build in the placement of some of the pieces, but it mostly looks the same to the first build with minor aesthetic differences.
Anti-Gravity Rocket Bike: Minor aesthetic differences is the name of the game as this third model involves another swapping around of the parts being placed around, the basic chassis remains the same and it’s fairly easy to build.
The completed model
Clown Bike & Alternate Builds: All three of these models roll on two wheels, all three also have the handlebars facing up so that in theory a Minifigure can hold on and ‘ride’ the bike. The third model has the exhaust port elements aimed downwards for a flight model, they need to be angled slightly if you want the wheels to roll, but they will still roll. All three models match their digital counterparts as well, which is great.
The Digital Content
The Adventure World: It’s another trip into the world of The Simpsons, the same place you visit with Homer and Bart, and my same gripes continue to be there. I can’t stand that fake Theme Song, but the game play and puzzles are still fairly straight forward and nothing against it I have to say.
Character & Vehicle Abilities: Krusty has Growth and Hazard Cleaner abilities, which makes sense as like all clowns he’s carrying a Seltzer bottle to squirt water. He’s one of only a few characters from Series 1 with these abilities sharing them with Aquaman.
The Clown Bik can use Accelerator Switches, the second model also has the Tow Bar and Special Attack ability while the third and final model can fly and access Flight Docks and Flight Cargo Hooks.
Overall opinion
I probably wouldn’t have picked up Krusty honestly, I wanted every character and vehicle in the game so I went out of my way to support LEGO Dimensions, but Krusty is worthless aside from his abilities and those abilities are available with other characters. Granted there are some bits of funny dialogue when Krusty and Joker on the Toy Tag together, but they don’t make up nearly enough for what you get in the package. If you want every character and vehicle in the game then you’re going to get this package regardless, but I still would only recommend it if that’s how you play LEGO Dimensions, casual players looking only to 100% the game contents can easily skip this character.
