It's not hard to "Stay...positive..." about this pack!

Written by (TFOL , platinum-rated reviewer) in United States,

Once again, Unikitty was entirely a completion-driven purchase. However, I'm still quite pleased.

    Box/Instructions

The packaging is nice, and shows off the models for the vehicle and some nice artwork on the front.

    Parts

The parts here are pretty nice, with some good colorful 1x1 studs and the pastels used on Unikitty. Unikitty's NFC base is nice, decorated with clouds and rainbows. However, due to her 3-stud long body, she only attaches with one stud and hangs off a bit, which is less than great.

    Minifigures

We get yet another new Unikitty in this set, with a cute small smile and an almost expectant expression. The rest of the "figure" is built out of the same pieces.

    The build

This build was fairly simple compared to the others.

    The completed model

The Cloud Cuckoo Car is a fun little model, matching the other cutesy and wacky constructions native to Cloud Cuckoo Land. The car is a flying vehicle with a duck face on the front and some flower decorations, and is a nice little piece.

    Gameplay

Unikitty plays pretty much identically to the way she did in The LEGO Movie Videogame. Once again, she is the only character that can interact with rainbow-colored bricks, and she can transform into Rage Kitty for a short amound of time.

The Cloud Cuckoo Car is very useful once it's upgraded to its second form, the X-Stream Soaker. The constant water flowing from the vehicle can put out fires, grow plants, and clear toxic goop, and, with the Mystery Machine, is the only way to do any of those until Aquaman and Slimer's release.

    Overall opinion

This pack is a good one to have, and necessary for completionists. However, unless you're a devoted Unikitty collector, I wouldn't recommend this to non-players.

    Rainbow Fun Across Dimensions.

Written by (AFOL , rhodium-rated reviewer) in Canada,

Set #71231 Unikitty Fun Pack: The final LEGO Movie inspired Fun Pack includes one of the more popular characters. Here comes Unikitty into LEGO Dimensions and she will feature some impressive bits of dialogue, with a unique ability necessary for completing everything in-game. She’s also super cute.

    Packaging

Unikitty’s artwork on the front of the standard LEGO Dimensions Fun Pack packaging shows Cloud Cuckoo Land from The LEGO Movie at a far distance and includes Unikitty in the front with an open mouth smile. A pity the facial print did not include that expression, would have been perhaps better received.

    Parts

Many standard parts here, though there’s some printed eye elements and large yellow flower pieces in this set. You’ll also find the parts used to build Unikitty, in case you want to MOC them into something else.

    Minifigures

Unikitty: This is exclusive to the LEGO Dimensions Fun Pack, though I do feel as if this facial print was seen before, according to Brickset though it’s unique, which means if you’re collecting all the variants of Unikitty you’ll need to pick this set up. She’s built pretty much the same way every Unikitty pre-new neck piece attachment plate, so her head is more prone to popping off from the torso.

    The build

Cloud Cuckoo Car & Alternate Builds: All three of these models are built in the same way with a lot of ways to capture the essence of Cloud Cuckoo Land, the models are fairly quick to make as well without any difficult steps. Though naturally you require the game to get the instructions or look it up online.

    The completed model

Cloud Cuckoo Car: This first model is straight out of Unikitty’s imagination, it floats through the air and spreads cute flowery fun everywhere. Interesting enough it is designed to accommodate a Minifigure or Unikitty, though the single stud jumper plate is the only connector so she will easily fall off during play. Minifigures can stand behind the steering wheel on two studs, it’s nice to get a model that Minifigs can fit on though.

X-Treme Soaker: There’s something I haven’t seen in a while, X-Treme is something from the early 2000s part of the LEGO Town sub-themes if I’m not mistaken. It’s a nice nod to old school LEGO as far as names go, however the model is far from X-Treme. It alters the placement of numerous parts opening up the driver’s area a bit to better accommodate Minifigs, and it’s designed to shoot water out as we’ll see in the abilities discussion.

Rainbow Cannon: This one actually rebuilds itself better and has you completely rearrange all of the parts to make something different from the first two models. This one can’t accommodate Minifigs sadly, Unikitty should still be able to fit on the jumper behind the steering wheel, but there’s no way to put Minifigs there.

    The Digital Content

The Adventure World: Everything is Awesome, LEGO Movie world can be accessed with Unikitty. Nothing much to say about it, the Starter Set already unlocked this.

Character & Vehicle Abilities: Unikitty can Master Build has a Big Transform (Into Angry Kitty, naturally) and features the unique ability to destroy Rainbow LEGO Objects (or build with them), so she’s a must have character in your game to 100% every puzzle and level.

The Cloud Cuckoo Car is a flying vehicle which can access Flight Cargo Hooks and Flight Docks, the second build is rather awkwardly capable of using the Water Spray ability since it flies by propelling itself up on a Jetstream of water. The Rainbow Cannon can still do all of the same things as the other two flying models but drops the awkward Water Spray and gains a Special Attack.

    Overall opinion

If you’re looking to complete the game 100% or get every variant of LEGO Unikitty then you’ll need to pick this set up, and it was readily available for a pretty long time at Dollarama in Canada for 4$ a year or so after initial release. So I’d definitely recommend tracking it down and getting it if you’re a fan of Unikitty. If you’d rather ignore this variant and don’t care much for her in the game then it’s safe to skip her as Lumpy Space Princess can also use the Rainbow LEGO Objects ability. Still recommended.
