    Yes, a Good Set!

Written by (Unspecified) in United States,

This is a good set with obviously a creative design. It really looks like something that belongs on Mars! The tracks provide excellent traction, and the steering is pretty good. The yellow also works well in this set, and makes it look simply amazing. I think this could probably even work with Power Functions, allowing for even more fun. Seriously, this is one that looks like it could have been a classic if it got a little more attention.

    Good Idea, Needed More Work

Written by (AFOL) in United States,

I bought this as a young teenager, and it was a lot of fun to build, but kind of a let-down to play with. It's a great truck, in theory, but the design needed more detail to really work. For one thing, there's no differential in the rear drive axle, and tracks are grippy enough and widely-spaced enough to need one, so it doesn't turn very well on solid surfaces (like carpet, or furniture). Additionally, the suspension creates a solid rear-end, which is ok, but an independant rear suspension would work a lot better, and wouldn't be prohibitively difficult to do since the drive axle is the pivot point for the suspension.

At the time, I just let it slide to the side, and eventually took it apart. But I still own the instructions, and all the parts should still be in my collection, so I'd like to re-build it with the above-mentioned modifications to see how it turns out.

In retrospect, it's a pretty decent truck for the money, and fun to build, I only deducted one brick because there's a LOT of potential for it to be a far better truck, with just a little more design effort.

    Interesting, but...

Written by (Unspecified , bronze-rated reviewer) in Portugal,

This set was a bit of a disappointment for me, as it does look good - has tracks and springs - but mechanically was a bad set. The steering was poor and kept felling apart during play. The older rack and pinion system is much more solid and reliable.
