LEGO tower Guinness World Record attempt, Hungary, May 21-25
Posted by Huw,
Yuree in Hungary says "I would like to inform you of the building of a LEGO tower in Budapest, Hungary – this will be a Guinness World Record attempt!
"The tower is being built in St. Stephen square, Budapest (beside the St. Stephen's Basilica). Building will begin on 21 May, and will be finished 25 May, Children’s Day in Hungary.
"The record attempt will be to build the tower 36 metres high, and it's expected that it will reach this height on 25 May, between 1pm and 2pm.
"There'll be loads of other LEGO-related activities going at the same time and there'll also be an opportunity to buy discounted LEGO sets"
"All visitors (and builders) are welcome by the Hungarian LEGO Fans! If you want to build, you don’t need to register -- just come, take a seat and build. There's free entry for everybody!"

No it was actually conquerer already in USA.
It's a shame LEGO restrict attempts to just beating the previous record by a metre or so, so as to maximise the number of attempts and thus publicity.
I'm sure someone could reach 50m fairly easily.
I want one of those LEGO flags :D
You spelled Guinness wrong in the article title ;) (sorry!)
Thanks for posting, Huw!
In 1993 - when I was 13 yo - I helped build the first hungarian LEGO tower and I kept the leaflet and the sticker... And of course, I 'll be there right now, with my children.
