Architecture Studio to be available in Europe, at last
Posted by Huw,
The Architecture Studio box of white and clear bricks that was released in the USA last year will be available in Europe later this year. Several people have reported seeing it in the Summer shop at home catalogue, priced at £150 in the UK.
The set contains 1210 pieces and a large book of architectural inspiration. It's a lot of money for what is effectively a box of basic bricks (see the inventory for what it contains) although I hear the book, which can still be downloaded from LEGO Customer Services, is quite special. (Update: actually, it can't anymore, the copy there now is just the cover!)
Will you be buying it, or assembling the parts from your own collection?
Thanks Lego_Star for the news.

I had a chance to spend some time playing (ahem, building) with the AS at my local B&N right before its release in the US--the parts themselves aren't that special, but the combination of parts (it is a very nice white and trans-clear parts pack) in a single set almost justifies it, IMO. Almost. If the book is important to you, then you are probably willing to pay for it, anyway.
I have a copy of the book, and can vouch for it. It is not a typical instruction book. instead it looks at the work of 5 different architectural practices, then shows some ideas for realising their style in Lego. It's a lovely book, good photos, high production values, with lots of pages. They should sell it without the set.
Just checked Rebrickable, I am missing but 35 parts. Six of which are POOPs, so that's just 29 bricks I have to BL.
No instruction book up for sale on BL or eBay just yet, and I suppose it will be just as expensive as the whole set, but I simply don't have any storage space left for white (bley, black, red...). Gimme an Architecture Studio in, oh I dunno, dark flesh and we have a deal.
If you're in the market for overpriced white elements and lots of them, you're in luck!!
Why would you pay a 150 bucks for a bunch of white bricks!? The booklet is most likely very nice and all, but in the end it's just a collection of bricks and plates.
I'm sorry Schwallex, but what exactly are POOPs? I'm not hip to you master builder lingo and this made me chuckle.
I saw on Amazon.com a week or so ago they had a couple of the Architecture Studio and it was for the original price of $149.99. I checked today and they have just 2 left and they are $232. LOL
@talos - if you notice, it's a third party seller listing that price on Amazon, not Amazon themselves. A lot of third party stores rather unscrupulously will jack up the price like that when they see that Amazon is out of stock.
@DanRSL - POOP is short for Parts out of other Parts, i.e. pieces that can easily be replaced by multiple smaller pieces. For example, the 1x2x5 brick, which could be replaced by 5 1x2 bricks, etc.
thehornedrat can you send me link, please? In your profile, you don't have contact option
@thehornedrat, please post in the forum, I suspect many people will be interested.
I found some pirates on the net who still had a copy of the pdf. ;-)
[20,30]€ on pieces and PDF instructions. No Box & instructions worths 130€ ^^'
I don't know, maybe if I found 50% off... but It is so overpriced this set here, even with an awsome book :P

@thehornedrat, pls PM me the link ... much appreciated. thank you in advance!
BrickOwl thinks the parts alone are currently around £114, so another £36 for the book and packaging isn't too crazy (the book is rather nice and you do get a few sorting trays etc in the box).
