Monkey Palace out now

Posted by ,

Monkey Palace, a board game developed by Dotted Games, a collaboration between established game publisher Asmodee and LEGO, was released today.

The game, which contains a 32x32 baseplate, 231 LEGO pieces, plus cards and various other things to enable play, can be ordered from Amazon.co.uk (£34.99), Amazon.com ($39.99), Amazon.ca ($57.97) and Amazon.de (€44.52).

Read a description after the break.

Build your way to victory brick by brick. A long time ago, an impressive palace was erected in the Jungle. It lay abandoned for many years, until a monkey moved in.

One day, the Monkey accidentally removed a brick from the palace and the whole palace collapsed! Now it’s up to all of you to rebuild the Monkey Palace.

Compete against each other while you help the Monkey rebuild the LEGO Monkey Palace in this innovative and strategic building board game.

Build a staircase for the Palace, count your Monkey Credits, take Monkey Cards and score Banana Points.

The winner is the player with the most Banana Points! With different game boards and no single route to victory, you’ll always want to play this amazing LEGO board game again! Suitable for children aged 10 years and up.

Any news on how we can get the skull micro-expansion?

I was kinda expecting it to be a GWP when you buy the game from Lego, but it doesn't seem to have been added to the Lego shop.

If you go on the dotted games website, you can download the rules for Monkey Palace, and this skull expansion. Haven't managed to find anywhere you can buy it though.

It's nice to see Lego Games return from retirement with this set!

(Disclaimer: Not actually the Lego Games theme. Just similar.)

It looks like a lot of 1x1 bricks that have to be stacked. Seeing them misaligned will definitely trigger my OCD!

Not for me :)

Did a quick googling - looks like it's an in-store giveaway (limited supplies) at local game stores. Link: https://www.hobbynext.com/offer/monkey-palace-skull-micro-expansion/ (But literally all it is is a Skull head piece, and a card with a picture of a Skull head piece.)

I think I may have to give this a whirl. We like the LEGO game series and this might be fun.

Doesn’t matter. Set links only work if the set ID is a number. It doesn’t work with any of the SDCC stuff that’s in as COMCON-x either.

Something someone will sell for $5000 on Ebay!

I wonder if this will sell. It is double the price but similar contents to Minotaurus and Ramses Pyramid back in the day, and they were frequently discounted. I picked up loads of those (and Battle of Hoth) as parts packs when discounted to £5.

Same here. I've got two of the Battle of Hoth and a few others I bought for next to nothing. Never played the games, but as dirt cheap parts packs they were awesome bargains.

They are not too bad as games. We still play the SW, Minotaurus and Ramses games. Atlantis Treasure is lso quite good.

But as parts packs they were even better. Ramses Pyramid was an excellent Tatooine MOC box, with the tan baseplate and lots of natural coloured bricks.

To which you might reply, "Well Ridgeheart, if you're going to be that way, you could also opt to make an airplane out of the instructions, or you could make shoes out of the packaging, or you could eat the bricks and WHY DON'T YOU GO TO PLAYMOBILSET IF YOU HATE LEGO SO MUCH?", in which case, whoa, hey, you may be hypothetical, but you need to settle down for real. Not cool.... there is nothing for me here - except maybe, a new pair of shoes."

Go away, persky hypotheticals, go away!

We still pay the Pirates game and the City Cops & Robbers games when we’re at the cabin. A few of the games from days of yore were different in a relaxing way.
