Quick look: 10374 Bouquet of Pink Roses

Posted by ,

10374 Bouquet of Pink Roses is the third nosegay to be released this year, and it's perhaps no wonder, given the theme is mentioned in the list of bestsellers in the company's 1HY annual results that were published recently.

This one has been produced with minimal effort, though, being a recoloured version of last year's 10328 Bouquet of Roses, although one of the flower heads has been improved.

Summary

10374 Bouquet of Pink Roses, 789 pieces.
£54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 | 7.0p/7.6c/7.6c per piece.

Lazy recoloured version of the red bouquet, but still an attractive botanical set

As with the red bouquet, which we reviewed in January last year, there are 12 heads, four each of three different designs, and four sprigs of 'baby’s-breath'. There is therefore considerable repetition in the building process, although instructions are spilt across three manuals, so the burden can be shared with others should you wish.

The smallest flower is my least favourite and is identical in design to that in the earlier bouquet.

The mid-sized head is an improvement on the equivalent one in the red bunch, but even it is not new: it's the same as the pink roses in 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet released earlier this year, which of course makes sense.

The design of the largest head, which utilises Iron Man masks for the outer petals, and Indiana Jones whips for the inner ones, has not changed from last year's red version.

You need a large vase to display all 12 heads and if you've tried to arrange any of the previous bouquets you'll know it's hard to do so attractively, partly due to the stiff, thick stems. I could only fit nine into this 3D-printed one.

Here's another attempt in a different vase, with eight heads. I suspect a vase with a wider base would work better, allowing the stems to splay out a bit more.

The red bouquet is not retiring yet, so it'll be on the shelves with this one for some time, offering new purchasers a choice.

10374 Bouquet of Pink Roses will be released on 1st October at the same price as last year's red posy, £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99: not much more than a dozen real roses.

TIL the word "nosegay" (a small, handheld bouquet of flowers).

My wife really likes the red ones. We get them out as part of our late winter/Valentine’s Day decorations. But she said she had no interest in ones.

I'm a word nerd, and I still had to double-check.

My wife told me that I'm getting her these for Valentine’s Day in 26 :D

Calling this lazy seems harsh. It didn't go up in price, has an improvement from earlier this year added, and gives buyers another option. I think all of those are reasons for praise. Could see this being a display replacement after Valentines Day when pastels are prominent during Spring.

A dozen long stem roses with filter flowers is by no means a nosegay. Although you could certainly make one from those. But I digress from my main point. You could get the flowers to display a bit better if you vary the length of stems. They need to be layered. For a dozen LS roses, the ones near the rim of the vase should be shorter and arranged in a wide circle. A mid layer of medium length stems in a tighter circle and single central rose should be the tallest. The baby's breath would be used to fill in any gaps. A very wide mouth vase would be needed, but by layering them you'll get a nicer display.

My parents owned a flower shop for 30+ years. And while I never worked as a floral arranger, I watch many bouquets put together. I couldn't tell you how many LS rose bouquets of dozens of different styles I've seen.

I agree it's a bit big for a nosegay but it's a lovely word to use in the review :-)

By in Netherlands,

There's a lot to like about Botanicals. They tend to look pretty good, they're not prohibitively expensive, there's a lot of interesting recolours and some great parts-usage. They're fun to build with a partner, they're fun to build for a partner.

But come on, man. The roses were never the most exciting builds, they were already pretty samey in the other sets. Retreading this set only gives us more interesting recolours, so - this is a parts-pack at best.

If I were to receive this as a gift, I would assume the giver was cheating on me.

Nosegay is an excellent word and even with slight inaccuracy regarding size I’m pleased to see it get an airing. It so often gets left on the vocabulary shelf.

Great addition to the Botanical range. Not lazy at all, as I dare say that the alternate colour came from demand rather than just randomly!

I don't think we can qualify this as a "lazy recolour" if the colour change actually makes sense, and even looks better than the first version. If I were LEGO I'd release these botanical flower sets in as many colours as realistically possible, to further widen their appeal. That's not lazy, that's clever businessing. ;-)

I like this set a lot, actually! Recolors of good sets will always be welcomed by me. I also love the new 3D printed vases pictured here, they're stunning!

I knew Today I Learned, but I can still remember when I first saw DNI, meaning Do Not Interact, and had to look it up, because all I could think of was Do Not Inventory, because my first two jobs were in grocery stores.

By in United States,

I actually prefer this color combination over the red ones (although those still look great too). I think variety in color is still valuable in this line and adds to options in display as well as mixing and matching for other combinations with multiple past sets.

It's funny Lego re-colors a car, a dinosaur, or a SW ship and reviewers say "brilliant idea". They re-color flowers and are called lazy. I disagree this is a "brilliant idea".
I'm glad they have re-colored the roses in pink finally. I much prefer pink roses to red ones. For once I'm glad I held off buying a set that I liked but would prefer in another color. I've wanted them in pink since the first bouquet of flowers set. Excellent job LEGO!!!

Io sarò giurassico ma per quanto belli da vedere non sono mattoncini Lego. Al di fuori di questi set è impossibile integrarli con altri.

With Nosegay?"

If only. At least it would be an original bouquet, thoughtfully arranged to form the tasteful centerpiece of a passionate and outrageously dramatic divorce. Instead, this is the equivalent of a Lepin bouquet ordered off of Temu, delivered to and bought from a truck-stop at half-price. This set is painful proof of the death of romance. Love is dead, and this is the set that murdered it.

You know you're in trouble when the blooms of love's labor become 10314 .

I love the updated / 10342 midsize rose! The bowl and flower element give it such a great finished look. The large ones just look odd to me now.
