Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory available now!
Posted by Huw,
Several weeks after we published our review of 21360 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, the 68th LEGO Ideas set is now available at LEGO.com.
The wonderful set, which recreates one of the main scenes in the 1974 film of the same name, contains nine minifigures, including all the main characters and a couple of Oompa Loompas.
It's priced at £199.99/$219.99/€219.99 and, if you're in the USA or Canada and buy it on or before the 18th of September, you'll receive 40769 SEGA Genesis Controller as a gift with purchase.

I'm going to need to use my pure imagination to pretend I own this, because I won't be getting it.
Kind of difficult to receive the SEGA controller GWP when it's been out of stock since last friday... at least in Europe.

Stop complaining and just click the affiliate link so brickset gets 4% of your purchase
Aside from the no longer available SEGA GWP here, I would have expected such a set to have its own GWP - however small. Given it has none, this won't be my normal 'day one' purchase.

I think these articles are pre-written then automatically released at the right time. Huw obviously thought it would be in stock and didn't update it over the weekend after it went out of stock so quickly.

Doesnt even show up on the offers anymore either so... I guess I'm saving money
Also, all 6 Insiders 'Spooky' posters now available for 3000 points for the lot (under half price). Meaning just 1 order, rather than 6, if you want them.
Europe is not the only LEGO Warehouse in the world.. Sega GWP is in stock in North America so it is relevant to say you can get it..
Thanks, I've updated the article.

There's not even just one warehouse in Europe either. There's multiple DCs for both website, and wholesale.
Hey kids. Want to see Lego set prices explode in your head like Lightning Candy? Want them to destroy your credit like an Everlasting Gobstopper? Give you gas like
Fizzy Lifting Drink?

Oh I know but I wasn't going to overcomplicate things haha.
"It's all there. Black and white, clear as crystal. You get nothing! You lose! Good day sir."

Yeah, that's the problem, nobody would have thought they'd run out of stock so quickly. It's not only the controller, Jack Sparrow's compass was also out of stock in less than one day, which is insane.
I wasn't complaining about Huw's article, if anything, about LEGO doing such limited promotions (to capitalize on our FOMO, I guess?).

I assumed they would run out quickly. I am surprised it last so long as many resellers place their stock orders when nostalgic GWPs are released as those GWP sell well and sell fast. Without wanting to pick on any one reseller in particular, look at this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4ocNPypCxM The video was uploaded yesterday, and with recording and editing time, plus delivery time they obviously placed those 8 orders on day 1 of the GWP. And that is just one of many resellers, and no doubt others order significantly more than just 8, given that the GWP is equivalent to about 25-30% off each order. There are enough conventions and fairs where resellers can wait a year to shift smaller recently retired sets at reasonable profit that can just hit the threshold to activate these GWPs. Then repeat that many times to build up their stock. Plus 10% cashback.
If a regular consumer wants to order a GWP these days, they need to order on day 1 too or run the risk of missing out.

Thanks for the heads up. As I had already redeemed 2 of them at 1200 pts each, I'm not sure I can take advantage of this offer. To be honest, there's only 1 more I love (the Vertigo parody) and 1 more I like (Haunted House). Some but not all are also still available by themselves (but at full price).
I did pick up the new Pirate one as it was more affordable.

GWP are limited to one per household (officially) but scalpers will be scalpers (i see many online lego channels unboxing multiple of the same GWP, like bricksie)

It confounds me why LEGO fans would support/patronize channels that clearly break the rules in order to scalp, all at the expense of regular folks.

In reality, resellers (or any consumers) getting multiple GWP are not breaking the rules. LEGO are breaking the rules by adding the GWP to every order automatically. They impose purchase limits and cancel orders if a buyer goes over them, so they should be able to enforce a one per household rule for GWP if they want to.
Let's face it, LEGO wants to shift product at full RRP. They don't care if they ship 50 GWP to one person or to 50 different people. Either way, that means they got 50 qualifying orders.

Doesn’t mean I have to be happy about it or respect LEGO’s new motto “ Only the bottom line is good enough.”
